An almost impossible find.
I saw that there was a bird at the top of that insulated tower. Definitively not a dove, or a pigeon and it had to be something else.
But impossible to get the bird at that height and light?
In my book, nothing is impossible if one really puts one's mind to it with a healthy dose of logic. So what I had to do was to find a higher spot and quickly as you know that birds don't sit for long before they fly.
Now this is where the logic came in, as instead of moving closer to the tower, I had to move further away and depend on my camera's super zoom.
Now what do think, would this tactic work?
This was when I first saw the bird at the top of the tower.
As I drove the car uphill, I stopped to see if it would work when I took the snap below, but I still had to go higher.
I reached the top of the hill. Climbed onto the car's roof and worked the zoom. People must have thought that I was a madman standing on a car's roof as they drove past :)
Bingo, gotcha mate!
This is a Rock Kestrel (Falco rupicolus) of the smaller falcon family.
It seemed that he looked straight at me, even though I was very far away!
And finally, when a bird fluffs like this, it means that it is preparing to fly.
Fly he did, but no way that I could get him, as instead of going sideways, he went straight down. They are very quick in the take off and flight and I have posted one in flight before.
I was not perturbed and only happy to get some shots of the kestrel.
So then I had to rush back to the parking lot where I was innocently waiting for my wife to complete her shopping for our new week's needs.
I hope that you have enjoyed the photos and the story.
And That's All Friends.
