A gold medal at the Bird Olympics.

And the gold medal for the bird Olympics was won by the young lady from South Africa, Miss Sunbird.

Look at this stretch by using her right leg as an anchor on the thin branches.

Some fun here to boost the start of your week with a smile. Ever heard of the international Bird Olympics? Neither have I, but we can only imagine what an event that would be. So I asked this little sunbird to give me a demonstration of what she would enter in and with no doubt she said that she would enter the balancing category.
Come and see below.

This was the layout below of the balancing event and this young lady stepped up for her performance.

She gently and shyly acknowledged the crowds, but you can see the determined look of concentration on her face.

To start she bowed to the applause and the began her stint at fame.

Carefully assessing the layout to avoid mistakes.

First the over stretch and perfectly performed.

And then to thunderous applause, the under maneuver.

As a bonus she popped up to higher obstacle to showcase her dainty finesse.

Even the judge Mr Mousebird in the granadilla fence was stunned by her fluid performance and the photos of her performance went viral on the bird twitter.

She is a female of the Southern Double-collared sunbirds and I am so delighted that they are now here in our new small front garden. Right outside at my front window of the study where I am typing this post.
We placed some of our pot plants strategically to see if it would draw the little birds, as then we could determine where to plant them. Thus far it drew the little sunbirds and also the little Cape White-eyes.
So I think that we could get some more Bell flowers and line that wall with different varieties of the plants.
We love nature and it is wonderful to have it so close to us.

Ps. All of the above, except the bird photos were taken from the story book in my imagination, so please don't ask me where and when the Bird Olympics takes place :)
