A day of good news.

At first Papillon's partner, Imibala, now has enough funds to open new branches in two other towns.
066.jpg

And also a day of a new unexpected challenge for us @papilloncharity

We popped into the coding training classes and as many of you know by now, the training is provided free for poor school children. Many of the empowerment projects that we support are long term efforts and we are delighted to tell you that the students are progressing very well.
I want to show you a new unexpected challenge that Papillon received today and as usual Papillon accepted the challenge.

We had coffee with the CEO and he invited us to accompany him to a new project where he thought that Papillon's help was needed. And so we traveled out to one of the townships.
048.JPG

I had no idea where or what he wanted to show us, as all that we heard was that he was talking to some person on his phone to tell him that we were coming to meet with him.
062.JPG

Ah, it was a primary school and the principal was waiting to meet with us.
043.JPG

These are supposed to be temporary classrooms established in 2018, and as we went inside it was as hot as an oven.
049.JPG

050.JPG

The great news is that the government has finally decided to construct a new school on the same premises and we were told by the excited principal that the school is expected to have 2500 pupils when it is completed.
035.JPG

Those are the classes built with proper bricks at the back.
056.JPG

And this will be the main administration building.
039.JPG

So, they waited patiently for the promised new school to be built and everybody in the community is very happy that it is now finally happening.
Now this is not an affluent township and that's why Imibala is involved, as they are also training the school's learners at some of their projects at the Imibala center in town. The feeding project also includes the school. It seems that Papillon will also be involved in the school now, as the principal said that for starters, he would need our help with the new library. The meeting with the principal was a real eye opener and he seemed like a very capable person with an impressive track record.
We will do what we can to help as that is what we do and let's see what the future holds in stock for us.

I hope that you enjoyed the story and the pictures.

Brick and mortar schools desperately needed in so many communities, most schools are in a bad way yet expect the young ones to give brilliant results, congratulations to the Principal and his Team for pushing toward a better future.

Well done being involved with the youth!

Sadly this is so true and the burglaries at the schools should also enjoy priority treatment. We had all of our donated computers stolen from an institution some years back and it was a big blow to the students.
Fortunately the community wants this new school and they will keep an eye on it.
New doors are being opened for us and I knew that it would be only a matter of time for the opportunities to start coming up.

Computers were placed in the Toti library for youth to use, stolen within a month never replaced.

Schools have everything under lock, bars and whatever other safety features applied, now schools are targets.

Congratulations on doors opening where you are able to assist, hopefully continued growth happens, all the best moving forward.

Yep, we also didn't replace the computers, as we knew that they will just disappear again. Of course they were not happy with our refusal, but why continue to help the thieves.

Some 40+ schools have suffered losses here in the province.

Thank you and yes, hopefully it is going to turn out great.

Level 6 power cuts, no one in orange pajamas to date, annoyed we have to put up with this incompetence! Prices going up at one hell of a rate on everything....

Just back in now after a 4 hour power cut and tomorrow it's going to be worse. So no posting for a while again. Told today that we were crooked with the inverter price that we paid. So instead of the prices getting cheaper, they are escalating. Our "new" gate motor is giving problems again during the power cuts and we have to switch it over to manual operation again. High prices and greed indeed.

These inverters are expensive, sons wife needs one for sleep apnea, two years ago, ordered waited 3 months and paid R8k. Gate motors give hassles when humid or Gecko decides it's a good place to hang out.

Even more expensive now and I am selling our new one for R18K, as we want to get a different option that can include all 3 of our auto motor batteries to continue charging during the power cuts. 2 power cuts of 4 hours and 2 of 2:30 hours every day now.
Luckily no Gecko or humidity problems here and it is the power cuts that prevent the batteries from full charges.

Thankfully we have an expert here that advises, else we would also be in the dark. He will be here again tomorrow. 1o hours power cut tomorrow (Friday).

Sooner the government realize that their asset is only going to be extended grid long term, should hand over conversion to those who know how immediately, try save some face for what they have done.

I saw a cartoon that stated; "They created the disaster and now they declare a disaster for the disaster that they created"
I think it's all a ploy to get what they want.

They want a big slice in privatization game, hope many end up in jail for what they have done, we know this will never happen... Next best, we know what to do!

I love this! You guys are really doing massive work and producing change. It is motivating. I can't imagine how uncomfortable it must have been for those kids as they learned in heat! I wish you all the best in this new endeavor and hope to read about progress soon!

Thank you and it is yet another long-term project for us. The end results and the impacts are the most important factors for us. The new school is scheduled to open in January 2024 and it is enough time for us to get things ready.

Like I said elsewhere, Papillon is in its 22nd year now and we have learned most of the tricks about the NGO purposes and trades. So our job is to empower communities with the skills to work and to feed themselves, instead of having to rely on others. Dignity restoration is high on our list and we do what we can to help the poor.

Thank you and have some !PIZZA

It's so good to see these types of projects come to fruition. What great news about the new school, and that you can get involved with a library for the school.
Happy weekend :)

Thank you and the library is only the start of our efforts, as later some of our other projects, such as the free coding training that we run with Imibala, our partner non-profit will also be instituted in the school.
Oh, and of course the feeding project will also be active in the school.

Blessings and a happy weekend also to you with some !PIZZA of course.
