MY FIRST NERODIA RHOMBIFER EVER!!!

This was so cool!

On our trip to Texas, I was able to catch a snake that can also be found in the state I live in. Somehow, I've just never found one here. Thankfully, I encountered one late one night in Texas.

Nerodia are some impressive nonvenomous watersnakes. Nerodia sipedon (Nothern Watersnakes) and Nerodia Erythrogaster (Plainbelly Watersnakes) are readily available in my area, and I've had many an interaction with them. That said, to find a Diamondback Watersnake (Nerodia rhombifer) wasn't that much different overall, it's just that it was a different species. I'll share some photos over the next few days, starting off with these headshots here. Enjoy!

The shape of the head reminds me of a viper for some reason?

A nice little snake :) Did you take him back to the farm?
