Sin duda, la vida me ha enseñado que los mejores planes son los que no se planean. He aprendido a apreciar las cosas buenas que surgen espontáneamente o que, a veces, la vida misma nos lleva a hacer las cosas así. Por eso, un viaje que se suponía solo iba a ser a una feria del libro se convirtió en una visita y un recorrido histórico por la gran ciudad de Caracas. Claro, no pudimos ver toda la ciudad, pero al menos llegamos a un lugar que sin duda debes visitar si vas allí: los Museos y la Casa de Simón Bolívar...
Without a doubt, life has taught me that the best plans are those that weren't actually planned! I've learned to appreciate the good things that arise spontaneously or that sometimes, life itself leads us to do things that way. That's why a trip that was only supposed to be to a book fair turned into a visit and historical tour of the great city of Caracas. Of course, we couldn't see the whole city, but at least we made it to a place that you should definitely visit if you go there: the Museums and House of Simón Bolívar...

Para quienes aprecian la antigüedad y disfrutan aprendiendo sobre la historia colonial, desde la vestimenta y los carruajes hasta los utensilios de cocina, este es un lugar que nos permite mirar atrás y viajar en el tiempo, imaginando cómo sería vivir en una casa tan grande y usar esa ropa. En esta ocasión, nos encontramos en el Museo Bolivariano, ubicado en el centro histórico de Caracas, un lugar dedicado a honrar su nombre y mostrarnos cómo aún podemos apreciar y ver algo de la época antigua hoy.
For those who appreciate antiquity and enjoy learning about colonial history, from clothing and carriages to the utensils used for eating, this is a place that allows us to take a look back and travel back in time for a while, imagining what it might be like to live in such a large house and wear such clothes. On this occasion, we found ourselves at the Bolivarian Museum, located in the historic center of Caracas, a place dedicated to honoring its name and showing us a little of how we can still appreciate and see a little of the ancient era today.
Desde espadas, trajes y muebles conservados para su exhibición actual, pudimos entrar y dar un paseo a través del tiempo. Vimos tantas cosas que fue imposible no tomarnos nuestro tiempo para apreciar cada detalle, ya que es tan nuevo para quienes vivimos en una época totalmente diferente que nos cautiva fácilmente cualquier objeto que no hayamos podido observar con tanta atención en otra ocasión. Este es un museo donde se exhibe de todo, desde las joyas más pequeñas de la época colonial hasta grandes cañones. Espadas, todo tipo de monedas desde esa época hasta la actualidad, y banderas anteriores a la que hoy representa a Venezuela. Este lugar nos cautivó desde el momento en que entramos, ya que la vista que nos recibió fue hermosa, con una fuente en el centro del espacio que dejaba entrar la luz natural.
From swords, costumes, and furniture preserved for display today, we were able to enter and take a walk through time. We saw so many things that it was impossible not to take our time appreciating every detail, as it is so new to those of us who live in a totally different era that we are easily captivated by any object that we have not been able to observe so closely on another occasion. This is a museum where they display everything from the smallest jewels of the colonial era to large cannons. Swords, all types of coins from that era to the present day, and flags that existed before the one that today represents the country of Venezuela. This place was captivating from the moment we entered, as the view that greeted us was beautiful, with a fountain in the center of the space that let in natural light.
Seguimos subiendo, y cada uno de los tres pisos estaba dedicado a objetos específicos. En el primer piso, pudimos ver los uniformes y armas utilizados, así como los trajes de las damas de la época. El siguiente piso nos mostró un poco más de los objetos de uso cotidiano, como sillas de montar, carruajes e incluso la imprenta de periódicos, que me pareció fascinante. El tercer piso nos mostró más sobre Bolívar...
We continued climbing, and each of the three floors was dedicated to specific objects. On the first floor, we could see the uniforms and weapons used, as well as the costumes worn by the ladies of the time. The next floor showed us a little more of the objects used on a daily basis, such as riding chairs, carriages, and even the newspaper printing press, which I found completely fascinating. The third floor showed us more about Bolivar...
Sus cartas, escritos y numerosos retratos muestran cómo cambió su apariencia con el paso de los años. Fue una experiencia maravillosa, y el lugar en sí, aparte de las muchas cosas que contenía, parecía una hermosa casa colonial, restaurada en algunas zonas, pero que aún conservaba ese toque clásico y simbólico de la época. Y una vez más, queridos amigos de Hivers, ¡esta historia continuará porque hay mucho más que contar! 🤭
His letters, writings, and numerous portraits of him show how his appearance changed over the years. It was a wonderful experience, and the place itself, aside from the many things it contained, seemed to be a beautiful colonial house, restored in some areas but still maintaining that classic and symbolic touch of that era. And once again, my dear Hivers friends, this story will continue because there is much more to tell! 🤭
