Hola querido hiver.

En el viaje que hice a Calatayud el guía que nos enseñó la ciudad nos recomendó que entrásemos en un edificio singular. En el tiempo libre que tuvimos fuimos a curiosear y lo que encontramos nos encantó: el Casino Bilbilitano, un lugar de encuentro y recreo ubicado en el antiguo palacio del Barón de Warsage.

El edificio ha mantenido usos diversos a lo largo de su historia. El solar fue un hospital y un corral de comedias, hasta que en el siglo XVIII se levantó el palacio que ahora vemos. Llegó a utilizarse como cuartel en la Guerra de la Independencia frente a Francia. Desde 1855 es un Gabinete de Recreo o Casino, uno de los muchos que tuvo la ciudad pero el único que se mantiene en la actualidad.

El palacio está medianamente conservado gracias a que sigue utilizándose, y es una delicia pasear por sus estancias, repletas de detalles que te remontan a un siglo y medio atrás. Entre las curiosidades me gustó mucho el tablero para anotar puntos de billar. No tengo ni idea de cómo se usaba, jaja.

El primer salón que encontramos es el verde. Los muebles están forrados con telas originales y destacan las mesas para jugar a los naipes. En las paredes había retratos y fotografías de damas destacadas de Calatayud, algo que me gustó porque estos lugares eran frecuentados mayormente por hombres.

Aquí tienes la sensación de que en cualquier momento se va a abrir una puerta y va a entrar un señor con bigote, sombrero y monóculo vestido con traje adornado por un reloj de bolsillo. Me maravilló encontrar tantos detalles conservados en especial en los objetos móviles.

La joya de la corona es el salón rojo. Con sus paredes forradas de terciopelo bermellón está como si el tiempo no hubiera pasado. Al fondo encontré un piano que resultó ser un Pleyel. Sé de alguien que le gustaría probarlo, ¿verdad, @mipiano?

Aquí me entretuve más de la cuenta y más que me habría quedado, pero teníamos hora para comer y había que seguir explorando.

Llegamos a la biblioteca, otra estancia en la que me habría quedado a curiosear durante horas. En los atriles centrales hay láminas con información sobre la ciudad y aunque solo me interesó fotografiar la vitrina de los libros más antiguos, también tienen ejemplares de actualidad de diversos temas. Parece que los socios del casino continúan utilizando la biblioteca para su uso original.

Algo que me llamó la atención fue el relieve que presentaban los radiadores, con su pintura metalizada parecían nuevos y un objeto decorativo más.

Con esto terminamos lo más interesante de este lugar del que no teníamos conocimiento previo y que fue de nuestros rincones favoritos ese día.

Hi, dear hiver.

On the trip I made to Calatayud the guide who showed us the city recommended that we enter a unique building. In the free time we had we went to browse and what we found we loved: the Bilbilitano Casino, a meeting and recreation place located in the old palace of the Baron of Warsage.

The building has maintained various uses throughout its history. The site was a hospital and a comedy corral, until in the 18th century the palace that we see now was built. It came to be used as a barracks in the War of Independence against France. Since 1855 it has been a Recreational Cabinet or Casino, one of the many that the city had but the only one that is maintained today.

The palace is moderately preserved thanks to the fact that it is still used, and it is a delight to walk through its rooms, full of details that take you back a century and a half. Among the curiosities I really liked the board to score pool points. I have no idea how it was used, haha.

The first living room we found is the green one. The furniture is lined with original fabrics and the tables to play playing cards stand out. On the walls there were portraits and photographs of prominent ladies from Calatayud, something I liked because these places were frequented mostly by men.

Here you have the feeling that at any moment a door will open and a man with a moustache, hat and monocle will enter dressed in a suit adorned by a pocket watch. I was amazed to find so many preserved details, especially in moveable objects.

The jewel in the crown is the red room. With its walls lined with vermilion velvet, it is as if time had not passed. In the background I found a piano that turned out to be a Pleyel. I know someone who would like to try it, right, @mipiano?

Here I entertained myself more than the bill and more than I would have stayed, but we had time to eat and we had to continue exploring.

We arrived at the library, another room where I would have stayed to browse for hours. In the central lecters there are plates with information about the city and although I was only interested in photographing the showcase of the oldest books, they also have current copies of various topics. It seems that the casino partners continue to use the library for their original use.

Something that caught my attention was the relief that the radiators presented, with their metallic paint they looked new and one more decorative object.

With this we finish the most interesting of this place of which we had no previous knowledge and that was one of our favourite places that day.
