Recuerdos entre olas // Memories between waves

Hola querido hiver.

Pasaba la mitad de la tarde y acabábamos de llegar a Vinaroz. Después de algo más de dos horas y media de viaje lo que nos pedía el cuerpo era pasear y mover las piernas. Estábamos en la costa, así que nuestros pies se dirigieron hacia la playa, que no quedaba muy lejos del hotel.

Dejamos a nuestra izquierda el parque del langostino.

Aunque no era temporada de baño el chiringuito junto a la playa estaba abierto, poco concurrido y con mesas libres a elegir.

No suelo beber alcohol, pero estar de vacaciones invita a salirse del guion habitual. Qué rico estaba el gin-tonic. (Si te lo estás preguntando, era Puerto de Indias con Seven-Up)

Cuando las copas quedaron vacías nos acercamos a lo alto del pequeño acantilado. La playa que queda a sus pies es una cala con la orientación perfecta para aprovechar los débiles rayos de sol a salvo del viento.

Las olas se sucedían con rapidez. Desde el puerto llegaba a nuestros oídos el sonido de los mástiles golpeados por las velas recogidas.

Como íbamos con nuestro perrito Rocky no podíamos bajar a la playa, por lo que seguimos paseando hacia el sur.

La arena desapareció y solo quedaban rocas golpeadas por el agua en una sucesión infinita.

Eran momentos de calma y plenitud. Estaba en compañía de los dos seres que más quería, frente al mar. No podía pedir más.

Bueno, sí. Que aquellos instantes durasen para siempre.

Pero el mar se los llevó.

Hi, dear hiver.

It was halfway through the afternoon and we had just arrived in Vinaroz. After a little more than two and a half hours of travelling, what our bodies were asking for was a walk and to move our legs. We were on the coast, so our feet headed for the beach, which was not far from the hotel.

We left the shrimp park on our left.

Although it was not the bathing season, the beach bar next to the beach was open, not very crowded and with free tables to choose from.

I don't usually drink alcohol, but being on holiday invites you to go off the beaten track. The gin and tonic was delicious. *(If you're wondering, it was Port of Indies with Seven-Up).

When the glasses were empty we approached the top of the small cliff. The beach at its foot is a cove with the perfect orientation to take advantage of the weak rays of sunshine, safe from the wind.

The waves followed one after the other in rapid succession. From the harbour we could hear the sound of the masts being struck by the sails.

As we were with our puppy Rocky we couldn't go down to the beach, so we continued to walk south.

The sand disappeared and all that was left were rocks hit by the water in endless succession.

These were moments of calm and plenitude. I was in the company of the two people I loved most, in front of the sea. I could not ask for more.

Well, yes, may those moments last forever.

But the sea took them away.
