Hola querido hiver.

Las fotografías que comparto hoy fueron tomadas hace más de un año. Hoy las rescato del olvido en busca de refrescarme aunque solo sea virtualmente, pues estamos atravesando unos días de intenso calor.

Esa mañana Peñíscola no lucía como estamos acostumbrados a verla. Su cielo, normalmente radiante, estaba cubierto de nubes. No amenazaban lluvia, por lo que un paseo tranquilo era la mejor opción. Comenzamos en la playa, a los pies de su impresionante castillo templario. Escuchamos las olas por unos minutos, aspirando el olor a sal y tocando la arena húmeda con los dedos.

Hicimos el recorrido usual para los turistas, subiendo hasta la entrada del castillo y bajando por la parte contraria desde allí. No entramos en el castillo porque lo habíamos visitado el día anterior. Ni siquiera llevaba idea de tomar muchas fotografías, pero gracias a Hive ya no me conformo con retener las imágenes solo en mis retinas. Aquí y allá fui capturando imágenes sin pensar mucho y dejándome llevar por los momentos.

Iba a fotografiar el faro desde la parte inferior de sus escaleras de acceso cuando aparecieron unas gaviotas revoloteando. No recuerdo haber estado tan cerca de una de ellas, por lo que traté de inmortalizar esos momentos. Me encanta la sensación de libertad que me transmite el vuelo de los pájaros. Para alguien con pánico a volar es lo más cerca del cielo que me puedo permitir.

El instante más increíble, diría que mágico, fue cuando una de las gaviotas hizo una llamada a un par de metros de distancia. Todavía se me ponen los pelos de punta al recordarlo.

Fue tal mi emoción que casi me olvido de hacerle la foto al faro, jeje. Y es que cuando el mar es el protagonista del paisaje es difícil que los ojos no se vean atraídos hacia él.

Nos detuvimos a descansar. Era la hora perfecta para tomar un vermut con vistas de ensueño. Lo mejor de viajar en temporada baja es que es fácil encontrar sitio en cualquier parte sin necesidad de esperas ni de guardar largas colas. Y el ambiente es de calma y tranquilidad, como más me gusta.

De pronto, apareció la siguiente protagonista de nuestro paseo. Al parecer la terraza en la que estábamos también es frecuentada por estas listas aves que saben dónde recibirán comida. ¿Cómo decirles que no a esos ojitos? Hicimos un justo intercambio: migas de pan por posado.

Al terminar nuestras consumiciones seguimos bajando hasta salir de la zona amurallada y regresar al coche dando por concluido nuestro paseo.

Hi, dear hiver.

The photographs I am sharing today were taken more than a year ago. Today I am rescuing them from oblivion in order to refresh myself, even if only virtually, as we are going through a few days of intense heat.

That morning Peñíscola did not look as we are used to seeing it. Its sky, normally radiant, was covered with clouds. They did not threaten rain, so a leisurely stroll was the best option. We started at the beach, at the foot of its impressive Templar castle. We listened to the waves for a few minutes, inhaling the smell of salt and touching the wet sand with our fingers.

We did the usual route for tourists, going up to the entrance of the castle and down the opposite side from there. We didn't go inside the castle because we had visited it the day before. I didn't even have the idea of taking many photographs, but thanks to Hive I am no longer content to retain the images only on my retinas. Here and there I was capturing images without thinking too much and letting myself be carried away by the moments.

I was going to photograph the lighthouse from the bottom of its access stairs when some seagulls appeared fluttering around. I don't remember having been so close to one of them, so I tried to immortalise those moments. I love the feeling of freedom that the flight of birds gives me. For someone with a panic of flying it is as close to the sky as I can get.

The most incredible, I would say magical, moment was when one of the seagulls called a couple of metres away. It still makes the hair on the back of my neck stand on end when I remember it.

I was so excited that I almost forgot to take a picture of the lighthouse, hehe. When the sea is the protagonist of the landscape, it is difficult not to be attracted to it.

We stopped to rest. It was the perfect time for a vermouth with a dreamlike view. The best thing about travelling in low season is that it is easy to find a place anywhere without waiting or queuing. And the atmosphere is calm and peaceful, just the way I like it.

Suddenly, the next protagonist of our walk appeared. Apparently the terrace we were on is also frequented by these clever birds who know where they will get food. How can you say no to those little eyes? We made a fair exchange: breadcrumbs for perching.

After finishing our drinks, we continue downhill until we leave the walled area and return to the car, concluding our walk.
