Hola querido hiver.
Federico García Lorca fue uno de los mejores poetas de la literatura española. Su Romancero gitano fue de los primeros libros en verso que leí y sus obras de teatro se han representado y adaptado miles de veces, incluyendo versiones para el cine y series de televisión.
Su figura sigue siendo algo controvertida debido a su muerte. Un mes después del inicio de la Guerra Civil Española, el 18 de agosto de 1936, Lorca fue fusilado por el bando sublevado y la localización de sus restos sigue siendo una incógnita.
En esta exposición que visité en febrero recorremos su vida y obra mediante objetos, recortes de periódicos y revistas de la época así como fotografías y audiovisuales. Para los que hablamos español es una delicia. En el caso de que hables inglés, existen buenas traducciones de sus obras más importantes y te animo a que te acerques a su figura, no te decepcionará.
La caótica belleza de Federico García Lorca nos acerca a la España de principios del siglo pasado, que ya es historia pero que sigue estando muy presente.
Aunque la exposición no está ordenada cronológicamente, en la primera sala encontramos un rincón dedicado a su infancia y juventud, con imágenes de su familia y una recreación de una habitación típica de la época.
Me encantó el panel dedicado a una visita de Federico a la Alhambra de Granada, donde posa en su Patio de los Arrayanes en 1927. Le acompaña una selección de postales del monumento y del resto de la ciudad. Si la has visitado te invito a que aumentes el tamaño y mires las imágenes, verás lugares conocidos con un aspecto diferente al que tienen ahora.
Otra pared nos atraerá por la caricatura de gran tamaño que representa a diversas personalidades conocidas de Granada, entre ellas el pintor Ignacio Zuloaga, el compositor Manuel de Falla, o la cantaora flamenca La Niña de los Peines y donde Federico aparece caracterizado en medio de tan distinguido público.
Disfruté mucho de las fotografías grupales. Leyendo los carteles de quienes figuran en ellas pude ponerle rostro a más de una personalidad que solo permanecía en mi mente por su nombre y reconocer a los que sí sabía la cara que tenían.
En la foto superior, Lorca ocupa la fila de arriba con Rafael Alberti y Luis Buñuel. En la imagen inferior, también de pie, le acompañan Vicente Aleixandre, Pedro Salinas, Rafael Alberti, Pablo Neruda. El homenajeado de ese día, Luis Cernuda, preside la mesa donde no cabía un poeta más. Ambas fotografías se tomaron en el mismo año de la muerte de Federico.
En esta segunda sala me gustó mucho el panel dedicado a lo que sus amigos expresaron sobre Lorca, en múltiples formatos. Fue retratado, caricaturizado, dibujado y convertido en musa poética. Su estancia en la Residencia de Estudiantes de Madrid forjó amistades que le siguieron recordando mientras vivieron y contribuyeron a perpetuar su legado.

volaré bien.
La exposición continúa con una muestra de su producción poética y teatral, desde sus inicios con la compañía de teatro La Barraca hasta el recuerdo de sus viajes a La Habana y Nueva York, que también le sirvieron de inspiración.
Bajamos varios peldaños y entramos en la sala de audiovisuales. Estaba amueblada con butacas auténticas de la época, seguro que recicladas de alguno de los cines cerrados de la ciudad. Ese sencillo detalle convertía la experiencia en inversiva sin necesidad de grandes tecnologías, jeje. He buscado los videos en internet para que los puedas visualizar, los añado aquí:

Es la escena de una serie que me encantaba. En ella se revisaban personajes y momentos importantes de la historia de España y uno de sus episodios nos mostraba a Federico García Lorca viajando en el tiempo. Es una secuencia preciosa que siempre me emociona cuando la veo.
El espacio del pasillo se aprovecha para mostrar la reproducción de un teatro de guiñoles y un panel sobre una obra musical de marionetas que compuso Manuel de Falla con la ayuda de Lorca. Las caras de los muñecos se inspiraron en personas reales. Seguro que reconoces al menos a uno de ellos.
Y con eso llegamos al final. Gracias por acompañarme a redescubrir el universo lorquiano.

Federico García Lorca was one of the greatest poets in Spanish literature. His Gypsy Ballads was one of the first poetry books I ever read, and his plays have been performed and adapted thousands of times, including versions for film and television series.
He remains a somewhat controversial figure due to his death. A month after the start of the Spanish Civil War, on 18 August 1936, Lorca was shot by the rebel forces and the location of his remains remains unknown.
In this exhibition, which I visited in February, we explore his life and work through objects, newspaper and magazine clippings from the period, as well as photographs and audiovisual material. For those of us who speak Spanish, it is a delight. If you speak English, there are good translations of his most important works, and I encourage you to learn more about him; you will not be disappointed.
The chaotic beauty of Federico García Lorca brings us closer to the Spain of the early 20th century, which is now history but still very much alive.

Although the exhibition is not arranged chronologically, in the first room there is a corner dedicated to his childhood and youth, with images of his family and a recreation of a typical room from that period.
I loved the panel dedicated to Federico's visit to the Alhambra in Granada, where he poses in the Patio de los Arrayanes in 1927. It is accompanied by a selection of postcards of the monument and the rest of the city. If you have visited it, I invite you to enlarge the images and take a look; you will see familiar places that look different from how they do now.
Another wall will attract our attention with its large caricature depicting various well-known personalities from Granada, including the painter Ignacio Zuloaga, the composer Manuel de Falla, and the flamenco singer La Niña de los Peines, with Federico appearing in the midst of such distinguished company.
I really enjoyed the group photographs. Reading the captions of those who appear in them, I was able to put a face to more than one personality that had only remained in my mind by name and recognise those whose faces I did know.
In the top photo, Lorca is in the front row with Rafael Alberti and Luis Buñuel. In the bottom photo, also standing, he is accompanied by Vicente Aleixandre, Pedro Salinas, Rafael Alberti, and Pablo Neruda. The honouree of the day, Luis Cernuda, presides over the table where there was no room for another poet. Both photographs were taken in the same year as Federico's death.

In this second room, I really liked the panel dedicated to what his friends said about Lorca, in multiple formats. He was portrayed, caricatured, drawn and turned into a poetic muse. His stay at the Residencia de Estudiantes in Madrid forged friendships that continued to remember him while they lived and contributed to perpetuating his legacy.

and I will prove to you that
I can fly well.
The exhibition continues with a display of his poetic and theatrical work, from his beginnings with the theatre company La Barraca to his memories of his trips to Havana and New York, which also served as inspiration.
We went down several steps and entered the audiovisual room. It was furnished with authentic period armchairs, surely recycled from one of the city's closed cinemas. That simple detail made the experience immersive without the need for sophisticated technology, hehe. I searched for the videos on the internet so you can watch them, and I've added them here:

El Ministerio del Tiempo - Lorca listens to Camarón singing his verses
It's a scene from a series that I loved. It revisited important characters and moments in Spanish history, and one of its episodes showed Federico García Lorca travelling through time. It's a beautiful sequence that always moves me when I see it.
The hallway space is used to display a reproduction of a puppet theatre and a panel about a musical puppet show composed by Manuel de Falla with the help of Lorca. The faces of the puppets were inspired by real people. I'm sure you'll recognise at least one of them.

Buenas tardes Paloma, me ha puesto el vello de punta el recorrido que nos has has ofrecido. Recuerdo que El romancero gitano era una lectura obligatoria en el bachillerato pero fue Poeta en Nueva York la obra que me cautivó. Después, o al mismo tiempo, el Omega de Enrique Morente con su visión tan particular y tan punk de Lorca (Poeta en Nueva York) me abrió a Lorca de forma definitiva. O, quizás diría, al mundo de Lorca... no sólo a su obra literario, también a ese maravilloso proyecto que fue La Barraca, sólo hay que ver el vestuario, la escenografía tan mágica y vanguardista, la llegada del teatro a los pueblos de España... el flamenco, ese difunto que no termina de expirar... y siempre como Don Quijote, con las y los más vulnerables.
Repasando las imágenes... y como no soy del género optimista... sólo puedo pensar que estoy antte la España que pudo ser y nunca fue.
Te agradezco mucho el video de La Barraca, no recuerdo haber visto nada antes de tanta calidad y sobre El Ministero del Tiempo.. lo tengo pendiente.
