A construction site cake.

I'm pretty sure some of you will be surprised at my choice of topic and all that but I have decided to give it a simple title since it was my first practical without any help from anyone.

Baking has become part of me now and also pastries since it's something we do almost everyday. It was nice trying out something new, a style different from every normal one that we usually see on a daily basis. My idea before was to design a very simple cake for the first practical since it's just the first time I attempted trying it but I decided to later get something more difficult done because what's the need baking and designing a very simple cake when I can just task myself with the difficult designs since it wasn't an order from a client.

I came up with a construction site cake, at first I saw the design on social media and I liked it because I felt it would have been difficult for the designer to have come out with a brilliant end result. Although it was a construction site were every work is still in progress, if you look on the board, you will see the granite, and the different colors of sand with the measuring tape proving that it's a construction site, you should know that it's not a real sand, they're sugar mixed with red color while the granite are fondant. It was a bit difficult for me finding a place to stand the red sign so had to place it on the cake. Don't worry, I will tell everyone how I started the process till the end.

It was a very busy day for me as I had to bake for my personal practical and also for clients that's why the cakes are much but let's concentrate solely on the construction site cake. As usual, I baked the cake using a squared pan and I made used of my cake recipe. It was a vanilla cake, I will tell you about some of the recipes I used probably in my next post.

I covered the cake first with butter icing before making my fondant. I had already prepared my fondant water done while the cake was in the oven.

I added a little black color to get that Ash color. It wasn't hard covering the cake, it was just time consuming giving it that block shape and creating the windows and the door then panting it too.

I was so concentrated doing what I love best, creating the designs before adding the finishing touch which is the painting 🖌️. I painted with little black for the edges to bring out the shape well. Then I finally had to do the final touching which was to steam the cake. I never believed it will come out this great, it was indeed worth trying.

At times, you need to take risk in life, I never thought I would be able to design this cake but I did. It is good to always task yourself at all times, you never can tell what you will do 😊😊
