Conociendo la Cascada de Vino Tinto 🍷 Getting to know the Red Wine Cascade [ESP - ENG]

About 8 kilometers from the town of Barbacoas, going up a road surrounded by mountains and great landscapes, we came across one of the sectors of Dínira National Park; this park has only two sectors or recreational areas within the state of Lara, one is the Buenos Aires Sector (which I will talk about later) and this is (so to speak) one of the most popular within this park.

Welcome to the "Sector The Wine Waterfall"

When they told me about a waterfall where the water falls about 90 meters high, with its incredible wine color, as if it was thrown wine from the top of the mountain, it was hard to believe. So we set out to see it.

This is the "Cascada El Vino ", a place that owes its name to the peculiar color of its waters (similar to wine), thanks to certain organic compounds, including anthocyanin (a natural dye) that is contained in the roots of the plants in these areas, which, when they encounter ferrous materials dissolved in these waters, radiate the typical red color characteristic of wine.

The temperature of this place is cool (between 16 and 20 °C), but some days can vary, especially in the rainy season where the entire recreational area is covered with fog (even until noon); The real challenge here is to bathe in these wells envinados, where the water is really cold (like fresh out of the fridge), besides that you can not see the bottom and that's a little scary, but after you get used to and acclimatized is hard to get out of the water.

Vertiente de la Cascada ⛰️ Slope of the Waterfall

From here you get a panoramic view of the entire recreational area of the park, and the Sierra de Barbacoas, in addition you can see part of the source of the creek the wine, just before launching 90 meters in free fall and continue its journey.

Quebrada el Vino: Pozos y Cascadas 🏞️ Creek the Wine:
Wells and Waterfalls

The wine creek not only feeds and gives life to the waterfall that bears his name, but also hides wells and other waterfalls that are little known.

It is a circuit of waterfalls with pools wrapped; The incredible thing is that these streams are born as crystal clear waters from the top of the mountain and as they descend they join other streams of water with the addition of organic and ferrous compounds that give the characteristic dark red color to this place.

Among the wells that can be found in the Sierra de Barbacoas, there is one that has become a tourist reference point due to its particular beauty and mystery, being included by many excursion groups in their tours inside the park.

Known by some as "Las Espumosas" which is created by the turbulence of its waters and by others as "Pozo los duendes" by some myths and legends that encloses it. This place is about sent wells fed by the same creek the wine; Located right on the roadside, in a rocky valley where tourists and visitors can make a stop and cool off with its cold waters.

Further on, it flows into a waterfall named "Cascada los duendes", making it an obligatory point to visit for those who want to live the complete experience of these mountains.
