Introduction post for opticus: An account for collating photos and video
Hi friends in Hive
This is an account that will feature photos and videos from my camera.
The account name, opticus, is Latin for optic. The idea is to use this account to share what I see.
I recently bought a video camera, and I thought I should seriously start using Hive to store my photos and videos. They will be mostly travel-related images and I hope to have immutable repository that will last a life time and beyond. It would be fun to read these when I am old.
While I am not totally unfamiliar with Hive, I have never had the experience of collating photos and video on it through a dedicated Hive account. Never been successful as a photo content creator, anyway. The standard is high, I believe, for one to be successful in this domain in Hive. But I think it is going to be fun, nevertheless.
The photo below is a recent photo that I took of a floor tiling somewhere on a street in Taiwan. I thought I would use it as a photo for my introduction post. Stare at it and let me know what comes to mind. Let opticus be your guide!

Lastly, I will be glad if you would give me advice on how to grow this account. The rules are complicated especially with the different communities that feature photos, but I am willing to learn,
Looking forward to read your comments, while I prepare for my next post!
Hello @opticus! This is @traciyork from the @ocd (Original Content Decentralized) curation team. We noticed you shared your first post here on Hive and introduced yourself to the community - congratulations and welcome! You didn't mention how you happened to find our blockchain home - did an established Hive member tell you about it? If so, be sure to tag them so they know you're part of the Hive community now.
Speaking of community, we have many different ones here on the blockchain, devoted to all kinds of interests. Here's a link so you can check them all out - Hive Communities
Also, as Hive can sometimes be quite confusing, the newly launched Newbies Guide should be helpful to you, as it is a growing repository of useful and easy to understand posts about how the Hive ecosystem works. For instance, there's a post in the collection called 3 things Newbies should do in their first week on Hive that you might find helpful.
Please be aware that Hive is a bit different from other social media platforms since you are monetizing your blog, so it is important not to include content that you don't own without sources (and it shouldn't exceed 50% of the post). For more information, check this post - Why and How People Abuse and Plagiarise by hivewatchers.
If you have questions, feel free to hop into the OCD Discord server and we'll do our best to answer them, and again welcome to Hive!
Welcome to peakd and Hive! Did you know that there are many different websites powered by Hive? If you enjoy travel blogging check out TravelFeed.io :) See you around @opticus!
It’s difficult indeed in the beginning
Good day and nice to meet you!
I found your blog link because you are new here and that’s great. We like ( or I like ) to welcome you to the Hive blockchain and platform.
You now have become a hiver or Bee as we are calling ourselves. This moment is perfect to give some tips and help you get started.
Also maybe you used the #introduceyourself tag and more hivers come with tips and tricks so the first steps won’t be that difficult.
I was welcomed with good advice too when I started so here I am just returning the favour. I know that Hive may seem very overwhelming right now but don't worry. After a few blogs you will be a great blogger and contributor, just stay away from texts that aren’t yours.
A great tip is getting discord. Discord will for sure help you and get you talking to other hivers without going to comments on blogs.
If you don’t have discord already view this blog:
If that’s is not your wish and you have any questions just ask your questions on any of my blog posts and I'll be more than happy to assist you with whatever questions you may have! I may know the answer. If not I will know someone who does.
Very important is to never give up any off your passwords , they are yours!
To blog I use Peakd and Ecency .
Ecency also has an App , I use it and it is great, it gives you insight on what is happening in your account, and on my phone I am never behind on the things I want to see or read.
For discord Ecency here is your free invite:

Maybe great to also join the terminal , the newbie help channel in Discord :

and visit @heyhaveyamet to visit more newcomers that onboarded hive.
Good Luck, Have fun and I wish you loads of success on hive and see you around ! :)
GREETZ
