Campo do Gerês - Parque da Cerdeira / Riding Portugal
Hello everyone and welcome to my blog :-)
There are places that invite us to stop. Stopping right now. Putting down your phone, forgetting about emails, slowing down and simply breathing. Cerdeira Park, in the heart of the Peneda-Gerês National Park, is one of those places where nature is not just the setting, but the protagonist itself.

We planned a weekend of rest, nature and some light adventure in Campo do Gerês, and chose Parque da Cerdeira as our base. We knew that the weather didn't promise sunshine, quite the opposite, when we decided to go it was already raining heavily, but we didn't back down. And thank goodness.

E ainda bem.
Rain, fog… and beauty without filters
As I mentioned, it was raining from the moment we decided to go. A grey, heavy climate, with low clouds touching the treetops and the mist sliding between the granite massifs that rise like sentinels around us. But there was something extraordinarily beautiful about that scene. A kind of humid, almost sacred silence that enveloped us completely.

My daughter hesitated as she got out of the car, her hood pulled tight and her eyes suspicious. And it was then that I said to him:
“We’ll do exactly what we would do at home: play, talk, eat… only with a much better view.”
And that's exactly what happened, and not only that. The view was stunning, even in the rain, or maybe especially in the rain.
There the scenery changes according to the season, but in a subtle and magical way.

Cerdeira Park is an authentic refuge among the mountains
It has been modernized over the years, but without ever losing its essence. It remains a place where the natural experience is at the center of everything. Whether in tents, bungalows or caravan areas, contact with nature is constant and privileged.

We stayed in one of the wooden bungalows, cozy, well equipped, with everything we needed to be comfortable even on wet days. Waking up there, with the sound of rain hitting the roof and the greenish tones of the forest coming through the window, is an experience that is difficult to describe. It's as if the body relaxes just by looking.

The park has a restaurant, grocery store, laundry, picnic areas and trails right outside the door. Despite the weather conditions, we still managed to go on short walks, with waterproof coats and well-worn boots.

We went to the Albergaria forest, where the centuries-old oak trees, even when soaked, maintain an impressive grandeur. The green was even more intense and the air smelled of earth, moss and wet leaves. At times, all that could be heard was the sound of water running through streams and the distant song of some bird.
PT
Gerês doesn’t need perfect days to give us unforgettable memories. Cerdeira Park proves that there is comfort in the middle of the forest, there is beauty in the middle of the rain, and that silence, sometimes, says it all. For those who need to disconnect, breathe and simply be, this is the right place.

Hello @sheeniiee 😊
It really is amazing! Thank U so much for stopping by 😊
So special about being immersed in nature, especially when it’s rainy and misty, it turns every moment into a peaceful retreat. I love how you embraced the weather instead of waiting for sunshine, finding beauty in the fog, the rain, and that silence.
Hi @gretelarmfeg! Absolutely! There’s something truly magical about being surrounded by nature in those moments, isn’t there? It’s wonderful to find beauty in those times and fully embrace every moment, even without sunshine. Thanks for stopping by 🤗
