FROM DRIVING TO WALKING
Greetings dear friends, I am Onovughakpor Franklin, known as @onos-f within this platform. This is my first entry in this community of Wednesday walkers ☺ #Wednesdaywalk. It is actually a good thing that we have this community to relate our moments of #walk and experiences, thereby getting to learn from one another from different parts of the globe.
Dear friends, I never thought of taking a walk last Wednesday afternoon, but I ended up walking a few poles unplanned. It actually happened on my way traveling from Ibadan to Lagos here in Nigeria. As I was driving slowly because of 'go- slow', the fan of the vehicle stopped functioning and the car started over heating. I got so terrified when I saw smoke coming out from the Burnet of the car. Immediately I saw the smoke breezing out, I quickly pulled over and opened the Burnet of the car. It was then I realized that the water had dried up completely and the radiator was punctured due to so much heat. In order to attend to this ugly situation, I immediately looked for a road side mechanic who was able to rectify the faults in about two hours.
Where did I walk to?
The story about my faulty car is just an aside. I am particularly writing this post because I had an inspiring moment taking a walk as the mechanic was fixing the vehicle. As I walked out to get some water for the radiator, I noticed a place where animals are sold. The animals sold there are basically, goats, sheep and cattle. I got interested in what I saw and decided to take some photos with my #Huawei phone.
I was actually surprised
I got so surprised and excited because it was my first time of seeing a place where goats and sheep and cattle are congregated and sold in such great numbers. I was also surprised by the prices of the animals. I never knew that goats and cattle could be that expensive. When I saw a particular cow that is so big, I inquired the price from the seller who told me that the ones you can see below are sold for about 1.2 million naira.
The prices of the various animals sounded so ridiculous to me. With such high prices, I wondered how much money those who celebrate wedding, birthdays, and other special events spend just to get meat for their guests. If it continues like this, people should be ready to eat only rice with garden egg on my wedding day o. 😂 I also found some goats used for fighting competitions that are sold for about 450,000 naira. Hello @wizj, considering the little amount of money you take to market every Wednesday, how do you manage to cope in the market trying to get some meat for the students? I also feel for our mothers, sisters, brothers, friends, and all those who go to the market here in Nigeria. They are certainly spending so much on meat 🥩
I hope to know where you are right now reading this post and also wish to know if animals are this expense in your area. Kindly share your thought.
