A warm, sunny Sunday morning for a relaxing bike ride to Plötzensee, including a walk around the lake using interval walking. It’s always a nice change of pace to take a walk around Plötzensee. I parked my bike by the sports fields and first walked a bit through the garden colony and continued along the shore, before heading through the somewhat overgrown northern part of Rehberge Park and along the Schwarzer Graben, which has far too little water in it now that it’s summer. Finally, the usual visit at the old boat rental place, where unfortunately nothing has changed, except that some people get in the boats, hijack them, and leave them somewhere along the shore. Unfortunately, there’s not much else one can really do besides signing the petition to preserve the site, which I fully support, and passing it on to my friends and acquaintances in Berlin. Today, a family of swans graced the spot with their presence when I arrived. On top of that, a gray heron posed beautifully in the bushes on the opposite bank.

Ein warmer, sonniger Sonntagmorgen für eine entspannte Radtour zum Plötzensee inkl. Seeumrundung im Intervall-Walking. Immer wieder eine schöne Abwechslung, eine Runde am Plötzensee zu gehen. Das Rad bei den Sportplätzen geparkt und erstmal ein Stück durch die Gartenkolonie und weiter am Ufer entlang, bevor es dann durch den etwas verwilderten nördlichen Teil des Rehbergeparks und am Schwarzen Graben entlang geht, der jetzt im Sommer viel zu wenig Wasser führt. Abschließend dann der übliche Besuch des alten Bootsverleihs, an dessen Situation sich leider noch nichts weiter getan hat, außer dass irgendwelche Leute dort einsteigen, die Boote kapern und irgendwo am Ufer zurücklassen. Mehr als unterstütztend die Petition zum Erhalt des Ortes zu unterzeichnen und an meine Berliner Freunde und Bekannte zu verteilen, kann man leider auch nicht wirklich tun. Heute gab sich dort eine Schwanenfamilie die Ehre, als ich dort ankam. Dazu hat dann noch ein Graureiher sehr schön im Ufergebüsch gegenüber posiert.
