Off to London today, and it was far more exhausting than expected, because starting at BER, nothing flew or ran as it should have. After my flight finally took off two and a half hours late, London turned out to be absolutely packed and just a mess today. I spent hours making my way through the city from Gatwick Airport to get to the ExCel convention center and the hotel. None of the trains were running as they should, and I don’t think I’ve ever ridden so many and such long escalators. The whole trip took 10 hours door-to-door, and that added up to quite a few steps, but I didn’t have the headspace for photos along the way, except at the departure airport, let alone the time or opportunity.

Auf ging’s nach London heute, und das war weitaus anstrengender als erwartet, denn heute ist angefangen am BER, nichts geflogen oder gefahren, wie es sollte. Nachdem mein Flug erst nach zweieinhalb Stunden Verspätung ging, zeigte London sich mir heute rappelvoll und einfach kaputt. Ich bin stundenlang vom Flughafen Gatwick durch die Stadt gegurkt, um zum ExCel Kongressgelände und zum Hotel zu kommen. Keine der Bahnen fuhr wie sie sollte, und ich glaube, ich bin noch nie so viel und so lange Rolltreppen gefahren. 10 Stunden hat das alles von Tür zu Tür gebraucht, und da sind einige Schritte zusammengekommen, aber für Fotos unterwegs außer vom Startflughafen hatte ich keinen Kopf, geschweige denn die Zeit oder Möglichkeiten.
