It was nice and warm again this morning, over 10 degrees, but windier, so a bit more refreshing. Hopped on my bike and headed to Plötzensee. The tendons in my foot are a bit annoying, but they don’t really hurt. Once at the lake, I started interval walking and listened to the concert of our feathered friends. As I was parking my bike, a stowaway fell off my shoulder, and it was clear: today is “Little Critters Day.” And sure enough, there were plenty of critters to be found, including a certain species I’d been on the lookout for a long time but had never managed to get in front of my lens: the caterpillars of the actually quite dangerous oak processionary moth, whose fine stinging hairs can cause skin irritation and even breathing problems. They’re the stars of the show today, of course. Spoiler alert: there are no photos of spiders.

Wieder gut warm heute Morgen bei über 10 Grad, aber mehr Wind, also etwas erfrischender. Ab aufs Rad und los zum Plötzensee. Die Sehnen im Fuß nerven etwas, aber schmerzen nicht richtig. An der Plötze dann los mit Intervall-Walking und dem Konzert der Gefiederten Freunde gelauscht. Beim Parken des Rads fiel mir ein blinder Passagier von der Schulter, und damit war klar, heute ist „Little Critters Day“. Dementsprechend bot sich tatsächlich auch so einiges an Critters an, inklusive einer bestimmten Spezies, nach der ich schon lange Ausschau hielt, aber noch nie vor die Linse bekam, die Raupen des sogar recht gefährlichen Eichenprozessionsspinner dessen feine Brandhaare Hautreizungen und auch Atemprobleme auslösen können. Die sind heute natürlich die Stars. Spoileralarm, es sind keine Fotos von Spinnen dabei.
