The morning had a chill that clung like fog to my jacket until sunlight finally split the sky and painted gold across the river Spree. Like clockwork, I walked the familiar path around Mierendorff Island, the one I always took on Saturdays. Breathing came easy, each inhale catching hints of wet stone and willow bark, while the water sparkled with light like scattered diamonds. At those usual magical places, I paused for quiet meditation, letting the world soften. But today held something rare. At the big lock, I spotted a full Canada goose family for the first time: a proud pair with one fluffy gosling waddling between them. It felt like a secret gift only the patient get to see. I didn’t want to keep it to myself, so I brought back photos for you, proof of the quiet wonder waiting when we stop and stay a while.

Ein windiger, kühler Morgen hing wie Nebel in meiner Jacke, bis irgendwann die Sonne die Wolken durchbrach und goldenes Licht über die Spree warf. Wie jeden Samstag umrundete ich die vertraute Mierendorffinsel. Das Atmen fiel leicht, der Duft von nassem Stein und Weidenrinde lag in der Luft, während das Wasser im Licht funkelte wie verstreute Diamanten. An den üblichen magischen Orten hielt ich inne, ließ die Welt stiller werden. Doch heute war anders. An der großen Schleuse traf ich zum ersten Mal eine ganze Kanadagänsefamilie: ein stolzes Pärchen mit einem flauschigen Küken zwischen ihnen. Es fühlte sich an wie ein geheimes Geschenk, das nur den Geduldigen offenbart wird. Ich wollte diesen Moment nicht für mich behalten, deshalb habe ich euch Bilder mitgebracht, als Zeichen stiller Wunder, die uns begegnen, wenn wir stehen bleiben und wirklich hinschauen.
