FUNAAB || Back To School Walk

avatar
(Edited)

It's a new semester in school and my last here as I am in my finals. I should have been finished with the university for over a year now, but my country's commitment to education is simply questionable. So, I am spending seven years for what I should be spending five years for. Engineering is a 5-year course, and medicine is a 7-year course. So at this point, you might as well just call me a medical engineering student.

The semester is to resume fully next week, and I am already back around campus. And after spending about 9 months out of school, I felt the need to take a walk on campus to breathe in the whole school aura. I was hoping that would help kickstart the school vibes again. So yesterday, I invited a friend (that's also in the same school) for the walk, so it wouldn't turn into a walk of soliloquy.

We first met at my place (outside campus), and then from there, we left for campus. We were expecting to wait for a while to get a cab into school, as cab drivers are yet to fully get back in business, but we were lucky to get one soon enough. Even better, it was a free ride and not an actual cab.

Our first stop was the new extension made to the school's Senate building. The school had been building it for a while now, and they are now finishing up. It looked really beautiful, and we just could not ignore it.

Next stop was the College of Plant Sciences. Actually, it was not our intention to stop here as there was nothing particularly interesting here, but we saw some flowers on the way and so we stopped to take photos of them.

There were some greenhouses along the way. They have not been well taken care of, so they just looked so ugly. Nonetheless, we took some photos of them, and with them. Just, you know, for the record that we passed by them.

Me again...

Our school has a lot of space, even between buildings. But the school has been making a lot of building constructions, and so we were finding new buildings in places that used to have really cool lawns.

It is actually so nice to see new buildings around. It kind of means that we would have some more lecture rooms and there would be less hassle in getting conducive ones to hold lectures in. But at the same time, it felt strange to know that the school I have always known for years is beginning to look quite different from how it is in my memories.

Next, we stopped at the College of Veterinary Medicine. Here, we did nothing but just take photos of the odd-colored monument of a snake on a pole—their symbol, sort of. We made fun of how ugly the color looked to us, as it was in terrible contrast with the colors of the buildings around. What do you think?

While we were talking about something that I cannot remember at the moment (I am sure it was super important), we kept walking down the road, taking photos of buildings that I (I'm not sure about my friend) may never get to explore. I will be out of the university in a few months.

It was getting pretty dark, so we took some more photos again, hoping to catch the warm and beautiful light of the sunset.

At this point, we were close to the campus residential area. There are hostels on the campus, and just a minority of the students of the school live there. I actually stayed there for my first two years, and then I moved out because I needed my own space.

There are so many buildings at my school that if I took a shot of each one, we may be scrolling indefinitely—that is, assuming I can even get to them all in the first place.

It was good to be back in school after an eight-month absence. I went to areas I didn't have time to visit before because the classes I'm doing now don't need me to travel as often as we used to.

We only walked about half of the way around the school. It's fairly large, and even if we wanted to work on it, we didn't have much sunlight. It quickly became dark.

I am now looking forward to the lectures and the whole school experience one last time…

I am not entirely happy. There are many responsibilities I shoulder in school, so resuming back to them isn't all that exhilarating.

Thank you for stopping by, @treasuree

Woahoo, someone went on a stroll, hehe. It's so good you went on that walk round campus to get acquainted with what is happening around you. So sorry you had to be turned into a medical engineer without your consent (this made me burst into laughter sha) and I'm sure by now you will be a guru 👀.

I so much love that first building, wow, this your school, they are not joking at all, all the buildings and the environment look so beautiful except that one with the blue and white design of what I'm not really sure that is, it's totally off I agree 😂😂, who does that? That department needs to explore more 😪.

You look kind of tired in the pictures, seems like you took it after you have gone round the whole school 🙄. Even when you are sure you won't be going in any of those beautiful buildings, hehehe. Well at least you got to see the good developments going on in the school and you got something interesting to share with us (me 😜).

I love flowers, I love seeing and plucking them, haha, poor flowers. I love the image you used first and last, it looks reall. beautiful, I almost thought you weren't the real owner until I had to look clearly and see Nigeria written boldly on it, lolz (that is me joking).

Yes oo... I had to go on that stroll. There are so many responsibilities for me now that we have resumed, and they are going to take a toll on me. I just needed to clear my head first.

Na so dem turn me to Medical Engineering student without my consent. Nothing wey I fit do now sha... I go just manage.

That first building looks so good in every angle. I didn't take so many, but trust me, it's one of the finest in our school. There are many, I would admit, but this new one came to top the majority. It's cool.

You see that ugly colored monument? It must have been a child that painted it... it's too ugly. But what do they know about colors? They only know about medicine for animals.

I said I was super-stressed sehh...that's probably why I was looking that way - tired.

I love to take photos of flowers. I have stopped for many months now since my phone went bad. I used my friend's phone to take those shots.

Thanks for stopping by, Hope.

Woahoo, I thought I had replied this, my network was bad that day and I must have missed it.

Well, going out for a stroll was just the perfect way to get off the whole school crazy routines that was on it's way and I hope you are coping well?

That's a professional course on its own you know, hehe, enjoy.

I'm very sure the building will be more beautiful than what I can see, hehe. The architectures are damn good, what a structure!

Hahaha, the monument is really super ugly, I will only accept it because of the color though, hehe but for that environment, it's a no no.

It was all over you that you were tired.

Oh wow, me too, I love flowers and the clouds too, they are my favorite things to take a shot of, smiles.

I'm sorry for the late reply 🙃.

I think that happens with Ecency a lot. Some comments don't get delivered, and one would think they already left a comment.

I know you love clouds. I see you share a lot of photos of them.

Yeah that could be the reason and also due to too many notifications, some times I just wipe them off so I can breathe, lolz 😂😂.

Oh I see 😇.

I don't even know how you even do it. Now that I have school on my plate, I am finding it challenging to keep up with engagement. I'll get a hang of it soon enough.

I'm not in school so maybe that is why I'm so active, let's see how it goes when I get my admission, I'm sure it will reduce, hehe. Yes, with time you will get it done.

Nahh... school's not an excuse to do things I need to do. One just has to find balance within to do well on their endeavors.

You already have a hang of Hive. You'd find balance early enough when you get to school. I trust you.

Well, you are right but then it's still okay to hide under the shadow of that because it's not really easy you know, hehe.

I do hope I will be able to balance it well too, let's wait to see how it goes, hehe.

Hmm, this is probably not what this community is all about...School buildings. Maybe take a look at the community rules and topics.

Oh, and I was thinking it fits just right in. You know, I just needed some place to breathe the outside and cool off - and I wanted to share about it.

I did read all the rules and felt the community was right. But I think I get what you mean exactly now. My apologies for violating. I'll do better next time. Thank you.

Oh, and I was thinking it fits just right in.

This community is about the great outdoors, not the great buildings and a walk in the grounds of a school doesn't really qualify. I understand that being outdoors can be of great comfort, but wandering about the grass in a school isn't really what we call an outdoors adventure activity.

Lol you’re complaining of your school having so many buildings, and my case was the opposite. My school doesn’t feel like a university most times, especially when you go to other universities and see their facilities.

That last flower picture was elite, man. Great shot!

Well, you are right, actually. Many schools look very different from one another. But you really think my school has many facilities? You need to see the University of Lagos. It basically is a city. I go there sometimes. Maybe I'll take shots and tag you in a post.

Thanks for the kind words man.

So at this point, you might as well just call me a medical engineering student

This makes total sense and I'll stick to it 😂

Nice shots you got of your school but I'm thinking your camera is behind it looking this beautiful or you really do have a nice school 😳

My dear, school is not easy especially it comes to Nigeria education system.
Wow, I love the buildings in your school. The environment is beautiful, well furnished unlike our own that is looking weird and unkept.

This year I would have been my final year but strike wouldn't let me go.
I believe by next year I am through in University education.

Let's have hope in God that things gonna turn out well.

Nigeria's education system is just terrible. I don't even understand how we even manage with the uncertainties that we encounter every now and then.

I really do hope that there will be no hinderances in the future so we can just leave school in peace and move on with our lives.
