Coffee with a taste of ancient spirit! In the old town Sermoneta... #TheLongestTrip // I'm at this moment
Emotions overwhelm me! I have once again found a place where the spirit of antiquity surrounds me everywhere...
It is such a warm and cozy feeling, when I go behind the protective wall that surrounds the old city of Sermoneta on all sides, in the vicinity of the city Latina, and walk leisurely through the narrow streets, looking with pleasure at every window, door, vase with flowers... The people who live here are as respectable as their city!
We first saw the ancient town of Sermoneta while driving down the road in our rental car. The next day we took the route the GPS showed us, which was a surprise because the shorter route turned out to be quite extreme. We drove along a steep, dangerous mountain road and only saw Sermoneta from above, and the sunset over the town!... And finally, after a few days, we arrived here.
In front of the main entrance to the city, there is a quietly gurgling fountain, and people like to sit and rest here. Immediately on the left is a church with a few staircase.
I turn left and plunge into the labyrinth of narrow streets, where ancient stone walls are entwined with green twisted plants. My children are no here already, and it is a challenge to find them later in this mysterious city where history lives...
Unexpectedly, I find an ancient church, which leans against the blue sky with its tower. There is a service going on. I quietly enter the door, sit down on a bench to listen and experience a moment of mystery of communication with God in this hallowed space... But the stern lady points to my bare shoulders! - you can't be here like this! I say: sorry and go outside :)
Walking further, I photograph every element of this amazing culture of real Italy and which can be preserved only in ancient villages. This is a wooden barrel, stone vases with flowers, arched entrances to houses... All this creates a unique face of Sermoneta. Latina. And they sell wine and fresh mushrooms, so similar to those I collected in Ukraine - foxes and red-headed!
My children found themselves and we decided to drink coffee. After all, it is a good tradition to drink coffee in every new place where we are. Cappuccino is the best choice that suits us all :) Italian coffee is really delicious. A friendly curly southern Italian young waiter is happy to recommend us a dessert with coffee - a cake with apple - berry jam.
Thanks @millycf1976 for creating Cinnamon Cup Coffee for good coffee lovers :)
And here is the coolest highlight of the city of Sermoneta in my opinion - tall old houses connected to each other as if by brick bridges. It creates such exotic pictures that I want to photograph these architectural masterpieces from all angles, and every time I get amazing pictures against the background of the blue sky!
Another unique puzzle of this mysterious city is its windows with figured bars.
Life in this stone jungle, where tourists walk every day and look in the windows, must be original :)
Here, for example, I quietly looked inside the house to see the mysterious space of the city's inhabitants...
Do you feel the spirit of antiquity, which is present in these stone walls and behind metal bars... I am glad that you are walking with me :)
Darinka excitedly ran up to me to show me the miracle of the faucet, which had a button on the side and the water rose up in the form of a fountain to drink :)

We found a particularly beautiful square with a view of the mountains and steep stone steps between the houses. Here we made a stop and took a photo of me by heart. And the red cat leisurely walked down the stairs, ignoring the people)
This post is written about where I am now. But I'll be back to telling my travel story, sequentially describing all the places I changed in my #TheLongestTrip
I thank everyone for your support ❤️
Congratulations, your post has been added to Pinmapple! 🎉🥳🍍
Did you know you have your own profile map?
And every post has their own map too!
Want to have your post on the map too?
Thank you 😊
Feels like I'm also walking in this old city. Its amazing how you vividly described the details of the buildings, the window bars and everything you see. I've only seen beauties like this in the movie.
Thanks for this lovely tour.☺️🤗
I am very pleased with your feedback. I love photographing the details of each city!
First of all let me say: What beautiful pictures!
They have caught me, by themselves tell so much history, so much life! You have captured the art of each stone, with each step taken, I felt I was there thanks to you.✍️👏🤗👍😘
Thank you. I love to tell about my trip with photos! I am glad that I succeeded. It was as if you were walking with me and enjoying yourself! Thank you for your feedback 😊
I have the same tradition for myself, too. Instead of looking for nice places or restaurants first, I'm looking for coffeeshops instead and have a cup of long black or espresso in that place. The sunset is beautiful and captivating. The cat is what I love the most, though. I feel like picking it up and bringing it up if I was there walking with you. Such a cutiee~ 😍
Ha ha :) I also want to pet all the cats wherever I am. I stop and want to communicate with them. They have a very independent nature! But after my youngest daughter contracted feline ringworm from an outdoor cat, we're a little wary!
I like classic buildings like this. In my country there is no building like this. Enjoying a cup of coffee.. this is really perfect
I grew up in an ancient city. Maybe that's why I feel so comfortable among old buildings.
Thank you for your visit 😊
I have never heard of the city Latina before. Seems it is as old as latin. I like the old cities of Italy very much. They are all mystic to me. I believe that not only this town but most of Italy should be preserved :)
Thanks for sharing this beautiful place and let us know its existence.
Around Latina there are many ancient small towns that look like fortresses in the mountains. It's a really unique feeling to walk there! As for the city of Latina itself, I didn't see anything ancient there. But I mostly drove there by car on roads surrounded by Lebanese cedars. It is very beautiful.
Check my last post dear Olga, I think you would like it.
Not only that we would look for a coffee once new in a place but it is our most offered drinks/beverage when we have visiors.
The place was fantastic and looking at those building structures no wonder they are really ancient!
Thanks for the wonderful tour!
Coffee and my good mood are synonymous :)
Hi @olga.maslievich
This is an excellent post - very well done, but it seems like more of a travel post than one specifically related to coffee, or a coffee shop review. It might make more sense for you to post works like these in the #pinmapple community because they focus on travel posts exactly like these. I don't mean to discourage you from posting in the coffee community though and we would love to see more posts from you. Perhaps you could focus more on the coffee and/or the Cafe or restaurant in the future? Just a suggestion. 😁
I completely agree with you, @leaky20. It's not enough about coffee :) That is, if I wrote about some coffee shop, design... would it be in line with the theme of the community?
Yes it definitly would.
Coffee shop designs
Coffee shop reviews
Coffee or tea related recipes
Or even just you experience with coffee/tea are just some of the things that are always welcome 😁
From the look of the place, it is really an ancient town..yet, I like the architecture despite being old .. I guess it was a worth it drive. The coffee was the reward haha
Coffee is always a pleasure of life! But this town is a real mysterious ancient masterpiece that is worth visiting!
this looks like such a culturally wonderful place, with it's cobblestones bearing witness to all the travelers who've walk these streets 😃 and the buildings looks historic as themselves winding with each other, creating not much corners 😄 it's amazing you've managed not to get lost and even found a coffee spot 😁 thank you for sharing your wonderful trip here!
