Very cool upgrades! I think a lot of cities and towns need to push the cars away a bit and make things more pedestrian friendly. So much better when you can leisurely walk around and not have to worry about cars buzzing by. :)

Vancouver is surprisingly a very walkable city with relatively good transit that include a skytrain, ferries, and sea buses. so it's perfect for visitors who may not have a vehicle and locals who would rather not pull their hair out trying to find parking. In recent years, they have also added networks of bike lanes, which are popular during the warm months. It's a controversial issue around here, but an interesting experiment in urban planning nevertheless.

Yeah, trying to get people to change their ways a bit can be challenging. Especially if it involves their cars. I for one am all for it. :)

As someone who lives downtown, I much prefer having the options to use different means of transportation and less car congestion. Plus we get about 10 million visitors each year, so it's essential to get everybody moving and having fun. So, I am biased in favour of less downtown traffic, but I get why some people are not happy, especially when traffic is diverted and becomes chaotic in other areas of the city. It's a work in progress :D
