Favorite Views in my Town - SB Chronicles #3

avatar
In my small community of Sisters, Oregon there is a road on the edge of town that has some spectacular views. It is a long stretch of road with plenty of area to pull over and admire the views. The main attraction here is the mountain peaks known as The Three Sisters. Of course this is where the town derives its name from as it is only a scant 12 miles to the closest peak. Follow along as I share some pictures and stories of why this is one of my favorite places in my town. You will also see how the scenery changes through the seasons. 🙂

myt-7.JPGNo matter the season there is almost always an ever changing view of The Three Sisters. They are usually identified as the North(right), Middle and South Sister but they are also called Faith, Hope and Charity on occasion. A name given to them by early settlers of the region.

myt-4.JPGBefore we moved here 8 years ago we use to go to this spot to enjoy the mountain views. It was one of the things that attracted us to this area.

myt-3.JPGHowever a couple months after moving here we were introduced to one of the hazards of living here, wildfire.

myt-19.JPGAll ended well though and soon we were back to enjoying the fantastic views.

myt-21.JPGIn addition to mountain views, sunrise in this location can also be spectacular. This was one of the better ones I have probably ever seen.

myt-5.JPGLike the views of the mountains though they are ever changing.

myt-9.JPGOf course sometimes the mountains like to get in on the sunrise action also. 😉

myt-22.JPGI took a lot of these sunrise photos of the mountains while eating a breakfast sandwich. The perfect way to start the day.

myt-10.JPGAnd while I don't take a lot of sunset photos here this starburst shot of the sun going down behind the North Sister is one of my favorites.

myt-17.JPGA heavy snowfall blocks the pull over area along the road. The brown horizontal line is the top of the fence almost buried.

myt-18.JPGAnd a few days later the skies have cleared and a wonderful winter scene ensues.

Hoar frost on the fence.

myt-25.JPGA less than stellar day for viewing the mountains due to wildfire.

myt-29.JPGSome more of the wildlife that likes to visit the area.

myt-1.JPGAnd my last shot taken a few weeks ago. Hope you enjoyed the tour!

It took me a while to figure out what to post about for this subject. As I was scrolling through my archive of photos I realized how many shots I had taken from this area. The ideas seemed to flow after that.
