When Given Lemons
Today was the big eclipse day. So one might expect to see some lovely pictures of the eclipse. However Mother Nature had a different idea. 99% of the time here in Virginia we have clear, cloudless, blue skies with lots of sun.
Of course today has to be the total opposite: thick clouds and a hidden Sun. So like I always say when given lemons make the best of it and complain like crazy to whoever will give you an ear. My friend is Jewish and has taught me that there is a Yiddish word for this exact thing: kvetching. Well I have always felt kvetching is an art form and admired those who could do it well. In fact I have practiced it a good deal in my lifetime and feel I can hold my own lol.
During the last eclipse, I remember using my welding helmet as a filter to aim at the Sun and record the photo with it being blown out and over exposed. Sadly since I recently moved, my welding helmet is packed away in some obscure tub in my storage unit, so that wasn't an option this time.
Fortunately this time, every once in a while there would appear just the right amount of cloud cover that acted as the perfect filter allowing the camera to capture the scene.
So it didn't turn out perfectly, but more importantly, it was fun for Ben and I. Obviously it's impossible to beat the pros with all the fancy equipment, so we learn to make the best of it and make a post of it LOL.
Today is Monday and that means it is Monochrome Monday. The best place to do such a post is in one of the most enjoyable photographic communities that I am aware of; that being the Colour / Black and White Community run by @daveks.
