Whales Southern Saltwater Outfitters Cool and a Bit Overwhelming
Hey everybody!
Happy Market Friday!
Well it's been more than just a little while since I have posted a Market Friday post. I sure do miss the glory days of Hive when @dswigle was active on here and Market Friday was such a booming trend every week!
These photos are from my recent trip down to Surfside Beach in South Carolina. We decided to visit a nearby beachwear and souvenir store in the Myrtle Beach area. What we discovered was a massive store consisting of two stories of eclectic collectibles ranging from towels to signage to clothing and just about anything in between even remotely related to living that Saltwater life!
There was just no limit to the sizes, shapes, and colors of the various merchandise. It was truly a sight to behold of so much salt water life stuff.
To be honest, the selection was amazing and the prices were not cheap of course, but quite reasonable considering it is a touristy area and the nature of the specialized merchandise is always at a premium.
The store has such a cool vibe that even me being a cheap ass didn't mind paying a bit of a premium for locally branded “Myrtle Beach” towels, mementos, and clothing.
The vintage and antique showpieces like trucks and gas pumps interspaced amongst the merchandise that is for sale was a nice touch.
The sheer vastness of the merchandise is just a bit overwhelming and requires a good amount of time to check it all out thoroughly. There are items for sale virtually everywhere you look, 360 degrees around as well as up and down LOL!
The only downside to the whole experience is if one is in a hurry, walking aisle after aisle can feel a bit overwhelming. However, if one allows some extra time to slowly make their way through the abundance, I am certain that everyone would enjoy the experience as well as find a trinket or two to buy.
What I thought was cool is that there are items for every person's budget. On one extreme they are selling shells and shirt teeth that are very inexpensive all the way up to the other extreme where there are beautiful works of art that command a large price.
I honestly liked all of the saltwater life nicknacks and prints and would love to have a man cave room just filled with such fun items.
I know it probably looks like I went crazy with the camera taking way too many photos and I'm okay with that.
I also know I could do a world of damage to my credit card in such a place LOL!
I hope you all have an outstanding weekend and thanks so much for checking out my time at the Whales Southern Saltwater Outfitters at Myrtle Beach!

Wow.. that's a HUGE place!
I used to love looking through this type of shop.
Enjoyed looking at your photos.
Thanks! It was almost too big, but I certainly enjoyed it. If I ever hit the lottery, I will load up the truck with salt life merch!
Did they have Salt Water Taffy and did you or Ben buy some??
I love that taffy but I am always so scared about pulling a filling out and ruining the rest of the vacation!
I guess that could happen! I haven't had as much as I've gotten older, but when I did, I would bite a piece off and let it warm some in my mouth before I chewed it. It didn't take long to become very soft. I do take things that into consideration more as I age, that is for sure.
