Tree Tuesday and the Slow Death of Hive
Happy Tree Tuesday, Hivers!
So today I am highlighting my very young oak tree in the front of this house that I bought a year ago. It has had a rough life so far. This spring it started out leaving as it should however after a month or two for some reason it dropped all of its leaves. At that point I thought for sure it was a goner. Thankfully about a month ago we received a lot of rain and it leaved out again remarkably, just as if nothing had ever happened. So I thought to myself sweet it's going to be good to go. Now though, sadly it is slowly being overrun by cocoons! I certainly do not have any experience with cocoons or knowing if these are going to be moths or butterflies or whatnot, but I am hoping it's not going to destroy my weak young oak tree.
I enjoy watching birds, but I am certainly not a bird watching expert. With the help of Google image search, I believe this to be a female eastern bluebird. That is pretty cool to me because I'm a big fan of bluebirds. They are hard to miss as a fly across the space when they're blue coloring is just so vibrant and eye-catching!
So of course this is a sad picture. I hate to see anything die, even though I had nothing to do with this poor fish. The same is true for my thoughts on Hive. Now obviously Hive is not yet dead. However compared to how it was many years ago it almost seems like it is on the morphine drip. Of course this is only anecdotal in nature and simply based on my personal observations and memories of how things used to be back in the Steemit days, and even the early days of Hive. I am proud to say that I brought a good number of people over from other platforms, yet many of those folks have fallen by the wayside, even if some still post sporadically. I have thought about this and it just seems that there could be several reasons why folks are not as active anymore. For example I suppose the amount of average rewards are just not large enough to compel people to post. I think this is especially true where people feel like they need to do an extensive post with many photos and a large word count. Most folks just don't want to make the effort and time commitment. As the old expression goes, I guess no one wants to hear that their baby is ugly. Well this is just wild speculation and I may be totally off, but I reckon that 20% of the accounts that post, probably reap 80% of the rewards, over and over and over. I don't suppose there's any way to fix this as it has been this way from the beginning, so here we are and it looks like this is how it's going to be. It just stands to reason that when people quit posting, they don't hold any of the tokens, so it falls further and further in value. Well regardless, to me it's been a fun ride and I look forward to seeing if something new will rescue us from this listing ship...

That is interesting about the tree that lost all of it's leaves and then came back. Coming back after the rains makes it seem like it wasn't getting enough water for some reason, but I am certainly not an expert on that.
When I was growing up, some of those cocoons would show up in some of our trees and my dad used to take a long stick or something, I can't remember exactly what, but he would wound strips of old rags on one end, douse it in gas or something else flamable and make a torch out of it. Then he would touch it to the edge of the cocoon and it a small flash of flames, it would burn right up, but too fast to set the tree itself on fire. Surely my Dad didn't make that up himself, but I have no idea where he learned it. The longer you leave them lots of time, the more they will take over the tree. Maybe at least ship the end of the limb off where they are into a garbage back or something. I'm sure google or the local people with garden centers would have a suggestion.
Fully understand your frustration about the Hive situation. Less activity, much lower HIVE price than a few years ago. But that was was Bullrun time. I believe we will see a comeback once Altcoin season kicks in again. The next 12-18 months will be much better. 🤞🏻📈
We have been around long enough and have seen various forks and various projects come and go so there is a fear that would happen to HIVE. With DTube we are in serious trouble and we have seen it with other stuff in the past. When the funding and liquidity dries up it is not a good situation. Personally I feel like we need to make a push to build out but a lot of proposals haven't been approved. I'm surprised to see the Ecency proposal hasn't reached funding as well as the Jimmy Sandfield proposal.
Yeah sadly I have given up on DTube and have been using 3speak.
I hear you. I feel that we can get DTube somewhat back on track. I have been using the Ecency app which allows you to upload videos which utilizes 3Speak.
If I upload something to YouTube I can use DTube to post it there and to HIVE, STEEM, and BLURT
