I starved just so I could learn to ride a bicycle.
Hello, everyone.
There are so many things we did as kids, and whenever we remember them, we laugh at how stupid we were or even get annoyed at such an action. While growing up as a kid, I lived in a neighborhood where all the kids my age owned bicycles, but I had none, so I tried to befriend them so I could at least get to ride.
Some days I get lucky and am given a bicycle to ride, but I do not know how to use it, so I just push it around. No one wanted to teach me how to; if I plead with them to teach, you hear them say they are tired, but I later found a way to get them to teach me. My parents are the type that pamper their kids and want them to enjoy every good thing in life, so my mum ensured my lunch box was filled to the brim while my dad filled my pocket with some cash.
Little did they know I only ate the food in the lunch box but never spent a penny from the money given to me. I brought it back home and used it to pay one of the guys with a bicycle so he'd teach me how to ride. Some days my mom won't be able to cook; on days like this, my dad doubles the money given to me, but I still won't spend a penny from it because the higher the money, the longer I get to ride.
Sometimes when I reminisce on this, I just laugh. Imagine starving for days where I was not given lunch all because I wanted to ride a bicycle. Trust me, it was worth it, and I really don't regret it. If I had not taken this bold step, I doubt if I would have learned how to ride a bicycle at an early age. No matter how hungry I get, I don't tamper with even a penny of the money given because I have a goal I want to achieve.
That short time I used to paddle the bicycle around was one of the happiest moments of my life. The smile on my face then explains it better. All these memories made my childhood really fun; to date, my parents don't know I did such a thing.
Thanks for reading my post.
Lol even those kids taking your money to teach you didn't come to play 😂
It's funny how we don't regret some things we did even though we shouldn't have done them.
Good you know how to ride now regardless of the story behind it, I hope your parents didn't find out though 😅
