My favorite city is Morlaix, France // Моє улюблене місто Морле, Франція (EN/UA)

The city of Morlaix is a beautiful, atmospheric city in the department of Finistère, in the Brittany region of France. I am not here for the first time, but the city captivates me again. Today I decided to walk around Morlaix, and especially those streets where I had not been before.

Morlaix is a city with a long history. Initially, the Gauls (Celtic people) lived here, in ancient times the city was a Roman castrum. Later, a castle was built here and a new settlement arose, the inhabitants of which were mainly engaged in fishing (Morlaix is located at the confluence of two rivers, there is the Morlaix Riviera, which flows into the English Channel).

Representatives of different regions of Brittany "fought" for Morlaix, the city survived the Hundred Years' War, was attacked by the British during the Italian War (1521-1526), later the Chateau Toro was built, churches in the Flaming Gothic style were built, wealthy residents built half-timbered houses (the highlight of the city ), the house in which the Queen of France, Duchess of Brittany Anne of Breton (1477-1514) stayed, has also been preserved here.

After this short excursion into history, I suggest a walk around the city.

I parked near the station (Gare Ferroviaire de Morlaix) and walked "down" to the city center. On the way to the center, I enjoyed the interesting architecture and streets. It immediately caught my eye that there are a lot of cars here, and there is essentially no room for them, all of them are parked "back to back" next to each other. The central square also consists of a huge percentage of parking. Because of the cars, I couldn't take good photos of the houses))

Місто Морле - прекрасне, атмосферне місто департаменту Фіністер, регіону Бретань у Франції. Я тут вже не вперше, але місто захоплює мене знову. Сьогодні я вирішила прогулятися пішки по Морле, а особливо тими вуличками, де раніше не бувала.

Морле - місто з давньою історією. Початково тут жили галли (кельтський народ), в часи античності місто було римським каструмом. Згодом тут було збудовано замок і виникло нове поселення, житлі якого займалися переважно рибальством (Морле знаходиться у місці злиття двох річок, тут є рів'єра Морле, яка впадає в Ла-Манш).

За Морле "бились" представники різних регіонів Бретані, місто пережило Столітню війну, було атаковане британцями в часи Італійської війни (1521-1526), згодом було побудовано шато Торо, будувалися костели стилю полум'яниста готика, заможні жителі будували фахверкові будинки (родзинка міста), також тут зберігся будинок, у якому зупинялась королева Франції, Герцогиня Бретані Анна Бретонська (1477-1514).

Після цього невеликого екскурсу в історію пропоную прогулятися містом.

Я запаркувалася біля вокзалу (Gare Ferroviaire de Morlaix) і пішки пішла "вниз" до центру міста. Шляхом до центру я насолоджувалась цікавою архітектурою та вуличками. Одразу кинулось в очі, що тут дуже багато автомобілів, і місця для них по суті нема, всі припарковані "впритик" один біля одного. Центральна площа також на величезний відсоток складається з парковки. Через автомобілі я не могла зробити гарні фото будинків))

And here he is already visible - the king of Morlaix, the majestic viaduct. By the way, a railway track runs along it - trains to Brest.

This is the city hall (which is called "City Hotel", that's how town halls are called here). A year ago, in April, there was a large flag of Ukraine here, but now, unfortunately, it has been removed.

This is the central square. There are many establishments for tourists (and not only): souvenir shops, restaurants, cafes, shops with local products, flower shops, etc.
