Сьогодні я хочу присвятити свою розповідь одному цікавому місцю у непримітній місцевості французького регіону Бретань, а саме: Долина святих (фр. La Vallée des Saints). Я побачила це місце, коли "гуляла" гугл-картами, і вирішила при нагоді поїхати туди. Від мого дому це не дуже далеко: 40 хвилин їзди на машині.

Насправді, погода трішки підвела: на пів шляху почав моросити дощ. Але він був невеликим, намочити нас не вдалося, лише доводилось ходити по мокрій траві. Мабуть, більш комфортно приїжджати сюди в сонячно-хмарну погоду, без опадів.

Напередодні моєї поїздки одна з моїх вчительок французької мови дала мені книгу про цю долину. Але я вирішила розглядати книгу після візиту, шукаючи в ній те, що ми побачимо вживу.

Today I want to dedicate my story to one interesting place in an unremarkable area of the French region of Brittany, namely: Valley of Saints (fr. La Vallée des Saints). I saw this place when I was "walking" on Google maps, and decided to go there at the opportunity. It's not too far from my house: 40 minutes by car.

In fact, the weather was a bit of a let down: halfway through it started to rain. But it was small, we couldn't get wet, we just had to walk on wet grass. Probably, it is more comfortable to come here in sunny and cloudy weather, without precipitation.

On the eve of my trip, one of my French teachers gave me a book about this valley. But I decided to look at the book after the visit, looking for what we will see in person.

So, we are approaching the final point of our route: the Valley of the Saints. It immediately becomes clear that there is a paid parking: 6 euros. We drive into it and set off on the route. Entrance to the "field" with statues is free.

At the start you are greeted by such a giant foot. This sculpture was created in honor of the "first step" to the shores of Armorica of those who founded Christianity here.

Над скульптурами працюють різні професіонали з регіону Бретань і не тільки. Вони використовують бретонський граніт для створення цих величних скульптур. Основна мета: щоб кожен святий був повернутий в ту сторону, звідки він походить, а також мав якусь деталь, пов'язану з ним: тварина, предмет тощо.

Various professionals from the Brittany region and beyond are working on the sculptures. They use Breton granite to create these majestic sculptures. The main goal: for each saint to be turned in the direction from which he came, and also to have some detail associated with him: an animal, an object, etc.

Я розмістила лише частину скульптур, тому що не фотографувала їх усі. Кожна скульптура цікава і дивна. Ходячи пагорбами звичайного поля розглядаєш цих особистостей, які мають значення для історії Бретані і яких хочуть увіковічити сучасники.

Головна мета цієї "Долини святих" - збереження історії, створення місця для туристів, залучення інвестицій в села, які "вимирають". Селище, де розташована ця місцина, має населення 700 людей. Їдучи сюди, ви розумієте, що їдете в "глушину", але цим воно і цікаве.

I posted only a part of the sculptures because I didn't photograph them all. Each sculpture is interesting and strange. Walking through the hills of an ordinary field, you look at these personalities who are important for the history of Brittany and whom contemporaries want to immortalize.

The main purpose of this "Valley of the Saints" is to preserve history, create a place for tourists, attract investment to villages that are "dying out". The village where this place is located has a population of 700 people. Driving here, you realize that you are driving into the "wilderness", but that's what makes it interesting.
