Wednesday Walk: Horrors Of The Raining Season

Greetings to you dear walk lovers, it gives me great pleasure to come your way through this post in the community. Hope you have a nice Wednesday walk today.

My walk today was alongside the heavy downpour witness in this part of the country which started off since 7.30am and lasted to 11.25am.

I commence my walk from Ikotekwere Itam, Uyo to Calabar Itu High way, but I couldn't access Calabar Itu High way at the time because of the rain, I had to take shelter in a nearby shop. While waiting for the rain to subside, I took the following pictures:

When the rain subsided a bit, I commence my walk to assess Ikpa road that will lead me to University of Uyo, but on getting to Udoette street the situation there was not funny at all. The volume of water there makes movement of both vehicles and human practically impossible and everyone had to stand still watching a sort of movie as the event unfold, hence I took these shots :

The annoying and sympathetic part of it is the scene of an elderly Keke rider who fell into the water in front of his Keke while trying to pull the Keke out of the stone in the pothole. I really felt like crying and him.

You can just imagine what some men pass through in order to provide daily bread not to mention other necessities of life for their family.

By the time the man struggle and stand up and came out of the flood water, you can but imagine the sorrowful and pitiful look all over him, I could not withstand taking him a picture! I really felt sorry for him.

Of a truth, raining season can be horrible at some geographycal location at times especially in the interland. At any rate I know others enjoy the season due to individual reasons. All the same, that have been my Wednesday's walk for this week, hope you feel what I felt.

Thank you for stopping by my blog, do have a blissful Wednesday walk, see you other times.

Roads in a bad state the people battle in wet weather, poor guy having to coerce his vehicle out then falling in the water. Such is life in Africa too much or too little!

Oh my goodness, that is a LOT of water! I hope you got to your destination safely and the man who fell is okay.
A couple of years back locally, they had just completed construction on this big project, where part of it was they lowered the highway into a tunnel, and they swore they made all these fancy anti-flooding drain improvements. It rained 2" in a half hour and the whole thing flooded. Everyone was like, good job, guys. 😂
