Visiting Pante Bahagia Tourist Attraction After It Went Viral

Last weekend, during my day off, my neighbor and I wanted to revisit a local tourist spot not far from our homes Pante Bahagia. I had actually visited this place before however, that was two years ago; back then, the site was still very pristine, untouched by human hands. The rocky paths and the wide riverbanks still looked as if they had formed naturally on their own. But did you know that since late last year, this spot has become a viral sensation on social media? After the flash flood disaster, I hadn’t even visited the place since it went viral.
At 2 p.m., my neighbors and I started walking toward the tourist spot. Honestly, after two years, I’d forgotten the way there. Luckily, my other neighbors were familiar with the area, so we felt safe following their motorcycles. Yeah, I rode a motorcycle with my friend. I was really glad the weather was still manageable—it was scorching hot, but there was a bit of a cloud cover over the villages we passed through.

As we drove along the road to the tourist spot, we were treated to beautiful scenery. You know, after two years, the roads here are now very smooth—everything seems more vibrant. Back then, the roads were rocky and extremely muddy when we came here, but now the atmosphere here is much better.

When we arrived at the riverbank, wow, I was immediately amazed—there have been so many changes. The bathing area where we used to stop is gone; now the location is nicer and a bit farther away than before.

This place has become much livelier and busier. Many people have now opened small businesses, selling all kinds of snacks to visitors and building beautiful huts along the riverbank so customers can relax with their families. At this water attraction, you can also rent inner tubes, and buoy, which adds to the fun for the kids.

The river isn’t deep at all—the water only reaches from the knees to the waist of an adult. So it’s very safe for children to play. And you know, the large rocks are neatly arranged here; the locals have really done their best to make this river as enjoyable as possible so that visitors feel more satisfied.

Actually, there are two locations for this tourist bathing spot; the one I visited is the first one. The second one is even farther away from where we went. Maybe I’ll go there another time, because I’m really curious.

As usual, the atmosphere along this riverbank is very cool, and the air is incredibly refreshing. However, one noticeable change is the many oil palm plantations surrounding the river. The forest, which used to be full of trees, has now undergone significant changes.

I love the tall mountains that surround this place the most. Everything is so beautiful—the views are extraordinary. It’s so cool and comfortable here—nature tourism without cell phone service or pollution. That way, we can truly enjoy nature.

Well, since it’s been raining a lot lately, the water isn’t as clear as usual—it’s a bit murky—but that’s no problem; my friends are still playing there, and they’re enjoying it. I chose to wait at the cabin because I wasn’t feeling well, so taking a shower would have been a hassle. Instead, I chose to enjoy breathing in the fresh air deeply and exhaling it slowly. Imagining the beauty of nature here, I’m definitely going to come back and bring my husband on vacation here someday.

The water from this river flows into the river near my house; usually, when there’s a flood, we experience floodwaters coming from that river. The address for Pante Bahagia, the location of this first bathing spot, is in the village of Blang Pante, Paya Bakong Subdistrict, North Aceh. I’ll be visiting the second tourist spot later—you’ll have to see the incredible view known as Abah Lueng Pante Bahagia.

It is fascinating to see how time and human endeavour transform an unspoilt corner into a place of community and shared prosperity. Your story is a stoic reminder that change is the only constant: what was yesterday a solitary, wild landscape is today a haven of collective joy and a source of livelihood for those who live in the area.
