Downpour; Rainy Days in South-South Nigeria

The red stony earth of the South -South doesn't just absorb the rain; it's wears it. Immediately aftermath of a heavy shower, where the soil yields to shallow , glass like puddles. Every pebble and fragments of stone is washed clean.

In this part of the country, rain is both a seasonal visitor and resources. I watched this this green bucket sitting out in the open. Turning into a canvas of concentric ripples. There is a beautiful, rustic simplicityin catching the sky's offering, surroundedby the rough texture of wet gravel and sodden earth.

When the damp chill of the rain finally seeps through the wall, life slow down.
I set my sturdy metal flask and a warm mug on a wooden chair I made it myself during my first year in Uni. The ultimate comfort, it's the universal day Nigerian Rainy day rituals lol brewing a hot cup of coffee to chase away the cold while listening to the Rythemic drumming of water on the zinc roof.

Looking through the Bulger, proof bars. I watched a world temporarily put on pause. The wet mop resting against the gate are nod to the endless battle against moody footprint 😅
