THE BUNKER IN BERLIN (BERLIN ART WEEK (3)) by edga - edgasworld
...today i have another Berlin Art Week post and also the last one i have.

Lets start!
This exhibition was in a really special place. The Bunker! A really cold and dark place if you are inside and think about the story what happend in here and how the people used to stay in this place for years! Its unbelievable and horrible. The rooms are so small and you can touch the ceiling easily without any problems. The people used to be in this rooms like forever and just went out one way to the toilet and back.
The Bunker became the name Banana Bunker because bananas was a rare food then
and they started to store them inside. More and more and more...
...So much that the people outside started to smell the bananas and knew they must have thousands inside the bunker when it smells that hard out of 3 meter beton walls or more. They started to call it "Banana Bunker".
There are a ton of more stories behind this cold place!
After the war and everything, some years later the bunker was abandoned and they started to use it for illegal Techno raves.
Really hardcore berlin underground techno raves with dark rooms, fetish, sex, drugs, boom boom boom, ...and this is kind of a place where all the techno scene started then.
For years it was used to have raves there and became really famous for this.
Dont know what happend then exactly. I think it was abandoned again or a place for tourists to see, ...
Today a guy bought the bunker and there are art exhibitions in it.
This guy and his husband built a loft on the top to live in. They are art collectors and the artworks are from their own collection. I think they change the exhibition three times a year.
The Bunker itself stays like it is!
They just changed some stuff here and there. One or two walls were taken out for a bigger space and also some ceilings are open. But in general its still the bunker. Even the most walls are never painted, same doors, windows, ... The dark room from the techno people was still there with the black painted walls and everything ^_^
...there was one problem! NO PHOTOS!
The owner said he dont want us to make pictures of the artwork because the internet will be full with the works then and its not more that interesting to come over and see it and the second reason was to enjoy the art by itself.
I asked if i can make some pictures of the architecture and he was okay with it.
So today blog is about the bunker and his grey walls and cold life!

This is the building from outside.
Its big! Its has 3 or 4 floors and now a loft on the top. (Cant see it here.)
This is one of the doors you have to go through.
Imagine you live in a place like this for years!
All you see is the stairs to the toilet.
Just grey, grey, grey, ...
Up!
...and down!
Or is it up too?! ...I m going crazy just looking at the pictures :P
Its the same everywhere aaaaaall day! More NOTHING than in prison! In prison you have the chance to see the heaven for an hour or talk with someone, maybe a little tv or something, ... Here it was a place of horror, torture, dead and pain for a long time :(
This is the last shot i have. Maybe some walls looked like this in there and they left this part original.
Hey go inside if you are in Berlin. You can learn more about it. Also there are some interesting artworks and some really weird artworks ^_^ in the different rooms. Something around 50 i think?!
Also the tour was really cool and i learned a lot.
Its super crazy to see this place and think about how it was :O ...even if you try to think about it and you feel weird and bad, ... It was thousand of times more bad in real. Thinking about this is just crazy.
But then the TECHNO era must have been sooo cool and free! <3

All in all it is a crazy building with a crazy history and i m glad my mum went there with me <3 THANK YOU!

Hello @nowargraffitis. I see this is definitely a nice place to visit. However, OCD is not the right community as it is for topics that don't fit in any other community.
