Maturín la ciudad de los Apamates [ESP- ENG]

Como todos los años en el mes de abril se da inicio a lo que se ha denominado la primavera tropical. A mediados de este mes comienza en Venezuela la floración de tres hermosos árboles característico de nuestro país: Bucare, Apamate y el Araguaney. Durante los meses de abril y mayo embellecen nuestro paisaje con sus hermosas flores.

En Abril los apamates se visten, como los nazarenos en cuaresmas dice la conseja popular tradicional venezolana. Históricamente semana Santa que cae en el mes de abril, es el hombre, con su afán de cambiarlo y modificarlo todo quien manipula el calendario en función de los intereses económicos. Cada año la fecha en que coincide o que cae la semana santa moviéndola al mes de marzo o a comienzos de abril o a finales de abril pero la naturaleza que es muy sabia nos dice que a partir del 15 de abril el Apamate esa belleza tropical, nos da cuenta del comienzo de la verdadera cuaresma y de la verdadera semana Santa. Nuestra ciudad se viste de morado.

En estos días que ha comenzado la floración, he entrado en conciencia de la cantidad de Apamates que adornan las diferentes avenidas y sitios públicos de la ciudad de Maturín, me ha llamado tanto la atención que me he dedicado a llevar una pequeña cuenta por las zonas donde transito sorprendiéndome que he alcanzando a contar más de 100 árboles floreados de apamates, tan sólo por algunas de las principales avenidas y sitios importantes de la ciudad como es la Universidad de Oriente, algunas plazas entre ellas el Indio, zonas de tipuro, etcétera. Nuestra hermosa ciudad es y será siempre un pulmón vegetal.

Quizás nadie pueda abrogarse la propiedad o la autoría de la siembra de esta cantidad de árboles. Todos muestran la expresión en su tallo de tener una larga vida, una larga existencia. Vaya a todas aquellas personas que en algún momento hace 20, 30, 40 años tomaron la decisión de plantar esta cantidad de apamates en nuestra ciudad mi reconocimiento y mi felicitaciones son verdaderos héroes anónimos. Hoy en día nadie reconoce su autoría de ese esfuerzo y de ese afán por sembrar un árbol. Por el contrario y lamentándolo mucho en los últimos años las autoridades encargadas o con el rol asignado por la ley para el cuidado protección y desarrollo de los árboles de nuestra ciudad han hecho más bien todo lo opuesto, han cortado, han talado, han destruido menospreciando entonces importantes seres vivos que aportan tanto a la sociedad mundial.

Hoy nuestro país Venezuela vive ya los efectos del cambio climático, en la actualidad hay una gran sequía, muchas quemas y en algunos estados donde en el mes de abril no llueve han caído torrenciales aguaceros provocando grandes inundaciones. Para frenar el cambio climático es necesario el cultivo y siembra de árboles y de grandes bosques nuestros árboles tropicales como lo son los Apamates, Bucares y Araguaneyes, entre otros son una rica fuente de generación de oxígeno y de madera . Ojalá muchísimas personas tomaran conciencia y las autoridades iniciarán una siembra masiva de estos nobles árboles para que las futuras generaciones puedan disfrutar de esta gran belleza que comienza con el Apamate. Un árbol tan espectacular con su bella flor morada.

As every year in the month of April is the beginning of what has been called the tropical spring. In the middle of this month begins in Venezuela the flowering of three beautiful trees characteristic of our country: Bucare, Apamate and Araguaney. During the months of April and May they embellish our landscape with their beautiful flowers.

In April the apamates dress up, like the Nazarenes in Lent, according to the traditional Venezuelan popular saying. Historically Holy Week falls in April, it is man, with his eagerness to change and modify everything, who manipulates the calendar according to economic interests. Every year the date that coincides or that falls in Holy Week is moved to the month of March or early April or late April but nature that is very wise tells us that from April 15 the Apamate, that tropical beauty, tells us the beginning of the real Lent and the real Holy Week. Our city dresses in purple.

In these days that the flowering has begun, I have become aware of the amount of Apamates that adorn the different avenues and public places of the city of Maturin, it has called my attention so much that I have dedicated myself to take a small account by the areas where I travel surprising me that I have managed to count more than 100 flowered trees of apamates, only by some of the main avenues and important sites of the city such as the University of Oriente, some squares including the Indian, tipuro areas, and so on. Our beautiful city is and will always be a vegetable lung.

Perhaps no one can claim ownership or authorship of the planting of this number of trees. All of them show the expression in their stems of having a long life, a long existence. To all those people who at some point 20, 30, 40 years ago made the decision to plant this number of apamates in our city, my recognition and my congratulations, they are true anonymous heroes. Today no one recognizes their authorship of that effort and that eagerness to plant a tree. On the contrary and regrettably in recent years the authorities in charge or with the role assigned by law for the care, protection and development of the trees of our city have done the opposite, they have cut, cut down, destroyed, underestimating then important living beings that contribute so much to the world society.

Today our country Venezuela is already experiencing the effects of climate change, at present there is a great drought, many burnings and in some states where it does not rain in the month of April there have been torrential downpours causing major floods. To curb climate change is necessary to cultivate and plant trees and large forests our tropical trees such as the Apamates, Bucares and Araguaneyes, among others are a rich source of oxygen generation and wood. I wish many people would become aware and the authorities would initiate a massive planting of these noble trees so that future generations can enjoy this great beauty that begins with the Apamate.
