The beautiful ancient parish church of Montemurlo and the medieval village. (ENG/ESP)
Good morning friends, how are you? We are not very well, yesterday was Sunday and Mother's Day and also the day in which unfortunately our beloved aunt Lucia, my husband's aunt, left us due to a bad tumor, so yesterday we returned to the native village to say our last goodbye after saying goodbye to her and we decided to take a walk in the medieval part of Montemurlo, my husband's native village, to cheer us up.
I had already visited Montemurlo city a few days ago but yesterday we visited the old part of the city with an ancient parish church, the medieval village, the cemetery on the hills and the abandoned villa of the Baron. Today, however, I will talk to you about the medieval village and the parish church, one of the most famous and beautiful places in Montemurlo, to reach it you have to take some very beautiful roads in the woods that lead to this village located on a hill, they call it the place of beautiful sight because it overlooks a small terrace from which you can see the beauty of the view over the entire valley with the help of a telescope.
Finding a parking space on Sunday was not easy but we found a place in the woods and took advantage of it to go for a walk that after the sad day cheered us up a little. Once you arrive at the village there is a small stone door that once you cross it leads you to this really small village of medieval origin made up of a few houses and a delightful little church dedicated to San Giovanni decollato, among other things the same saint to whom my husband owes his name, his name is Vanni, diminutive of Giovanni.

Immediately after the stone door we decided to visit the parish church, small but open to the public and really beautiful, I'll tell you a little about it, the church was part of the ancient city walls of which unfortunately not much remains but the bell tower of the parish church was an ancient defensive tower probably belonged for a period to the Medici family who also stayed in Montemurlo. The church in addition to the main part is also equipped with a portico and an internal courtyard. Inside the parish church there are today important paintings such as the Madonna del rosario and the Madonna assunta in cielo che da la girdle ai santi, it is a small but really very suggestive parish church and the works are magnificent and in good condition.
After visiting the parish church we went to the small terrace overlooking the valley, from which you can see almost as far as Pistoia with binoculars, there were a lot of people but we still managed to take some photos with the valley as a backdrop, a beautiful view that made us feel good, we were happy to have visited the parish church, I visited it years ago in the evening and I remember that at night with good weather it is very suggestive, furthermore there is also a small restaurant that everyone speaks highly of located near the terrace, a very romantic place, we hope to go and eat there one day!

Such a beautiful experience. The place you visit is where history and nature blend so perfectly. The parish church may be small, but it's full of soul, especially with those stunning paintings.
