Nice view of Roccalbegna
As you know, I love my beautiful region, Tuscany, a region with thousands surprises with seas, mountains, history, culture and good food. One of the places I visited some time ago is the delightful village of Roccalbegna, about two miles away from where I live, located above the Albegna river at the foot of two large cliffs, a stupendous view and famous for its fortress from which it also takes the name, a place much loved by those who love history and nature walks.
The place is located in the mountains and has a cooler climate than in the plains and is very harsh in winter. It was owned by the Aldobrandeschi family, who also built the fortress.
Among the places of interest there is a small church dedicated to Saints Peter and Paul, it is a place that can be visited in about three or four hours if you also take a walk around the old walls, it is a small but very suggestive village.
The fortress offers a very wide view of the village and its stone structure brings to mind the Middle Ages or a fantasy setting! A magical place to visit if you are passing through Tuscany in the Grosseto area.
