Good afternoon friends, here I am as promised in the last part of my trip to Montemurlo, my husband's hometown, where we visited the old parish church and the cemetery and today instead I will take you to the Villa del Barone and its surroundings, a villa unfortunately abandoned but rich in history and surrounded by beautiful nature and not far from the town. As soon as we arrived on the path of the villa we came across an artificial lake that my husband explained to me was once open and free and very pretty but today it is unfortunately abandoned like all the surroundings of the villa. But already from afar we could see the magnificence of this beautiful historic villa. The Villa del Barone, contrary to what the name says, was not a baron but a famous Florentine family who took this residence and made it a villa, modernizing and expanding it with a terrace and an immense garden, after him various rich families followed one another until reaching some markets in Prato who promised to renovate it but then left it abandoned to itself. Unfortunately, today you cannot enter and you can only admire it from the outside. It is a real shame that a historic villa has been abandoned, but unfortunately this often happens in our area.

Buenas tardes amigos, aquí estoy como prometí en la última parte de mi viaje a Montemurlo, el pueblo natal de mi marido, donde visitamos la antigua iglesia parroquial y el cementerio y hoy en cambio os llevaré a la Villa del Barone y sus alrededores, una villa desgraciadamente abandonada pero rica en historia y rodeada de hermosa naturaleza y no muy lejos del pueblo. Nada más llegar al camino de la villa nos encontramos con un lago artificial que según me explicó mi marido antes era abierto y gratuito y muy bonito pero que hoy por desgracia está abandonado como todo el entorno de la villa. Pero ya desde lejos podíamos ver la magnificencia de esta bella villa histórica. La Villa del Barón, contrariamente a lo que sugiere su nombre, no perteneció a un barón sino a una famosa familia florentina que tomó esta residencia y la transformó en villa, modernizándola y ampliándola con una terraza y un inmenso jardín. Tras él se sucedieron varias familias ricas hasta llegar a unos mercados de Prato que prometieron reformarlo pero luego lo dejaron abandonado. Lamentablemente hoy en día no se puede entrar y sólo se puede admirar desde fuera. Es una verdadera lástima que una villa histórica esté abandonada, pero desgraciadamente esto sucede a menudo en nuestra zona.

Unfortunately we only took photos of the baron's villa from the outside, it would be a good place to do urbex but I would also be a little scared, we walked around the villa but also the presence of too many shrubs prevented us from taking closer photos however it remains a beautiful villa even from the outside. Afterwards we continued our walk first on foot through the area around the villa and then by car where we went down the hill with large forests to a flat area made of fields and crops until we returned to the center of the town where we stopped not only to admire a beautiful mural made by a street artist and then we followed the religious procession in honor of Mary, in this period there are often processions in honor of the saints but they are not very popular, this one was also quite small and with a procession of few people but they played various instruments and it was pleasant to watch them. And here ends my trip to Montemurlo, there is still much to visit in that area and I hope to return soon to visit especially the hilly and ancient area, it is an area very rich in natural beauty, it was a pleasant and regenerating trip.

Desafortunadamente solo tomamos fotos de la villa del Barón desde el exterior, sería un buen lugar para urbex pero también estaría un poco asustado, caminamos alrededor de la villa pero la presencia de demasiados arbustos nos impidió tomar fotos más cercanas, sin embargo sigue siendo una hermosa villa incluso desde el exterior. Después continuamos nuestro paseo primero a pie por los alrededores de la villa y luego en coche donde bajamos la colina con grandes bosques hasta una zona plana hecha de campos y cultivos hasta regresar al centro del pueblo donde nos detuvimos no solo para admirar un hermoso mural hecho por un artista callejero y luego seguimos la procesión religiosa en honor a María, en este período suele haber procesiones en honor a los santos pero no son muy frecuentadas, esta también era bastante pequeña y con una procesión de poca gente pero tocaban varios instrumentos y era agradable observarlos. Y aquí termina mi viaje a Montemurlo, todavía hay mucho que visitar en esa zona y espero volver pronto para visitar sobre todo la zona montañosa y antigua, es una zona muy rica en belleza natural, fue un viaje agradable y regenerador.
