Amigos estaba con mi novio comprando algunas cosas preparativas para poder vernos lindos el día de los 15 años de su sobrina y fuimos al centro de la ciudad justamente pasamos por enfrente de la iglesia San Felipe Neri, la cual se encuentra totalmente abandonada y fue mudada, justamente a la urbanización San Felipe de San Francisco al pasar por enfrente del lugar, una señora nos dijo que podíamos ingresar a la parte de adentro y tomar fotografías en su interior, pero no quisimos arriesgarnos a hacer esto, ya que es bastante solitaria con la diferencia de que se encontraba un poco más limpia, ya que este lugar lo agarran como almacén de basura.

Friends, I was out with my boyfriend buying a few things to get ready so we’d look our best for his niece’s 15th birthday, and we went into the city centre. We happened to walk right past the Church of San Felipe Neri, which is completely abandoned and has been moved, to the San Felipe de San Francisco housing estate. As we walked past, a lady told us we could go inside and take photos, but we didn’t want to risk it, as it’s quite a lonely place – although it was a bit cleaner than usual, as people tend to use it as a rubbish dump.

La bulla de una ciudad que trabaja sin límite, no permite contemplar por completo. Este hermoso lugar que ha quedado abandonado con todo ese aspecto neoclásico y de joya arquitectónica impresionante, justamente enfrente de la iglesia, se encuentra el callejón de los pobres 1 lugar de bastante comercio para la economía informal donde las personas tienen su puesto y se, dedican a vender cierta cantidad de cosas como todo tipo de ropa, así como también otros utensilios, reciente mental a este lugar se le ha dado mucho más importancia por las redes sociales que eso ha contribuido a que ciertos entes pongan su interés en este lugar qué lleva bastante años abandonado por lo que ha recibido ciertas manitos de gato.

The hustle and bustle of a city that never stops working makes it impossible to take it all in. This beautiful place, which has been left abandoned with all its neoclassical features and impressive architectural splendour, is situated right opposite the church. Here lies the ‘Callejón de los Pobres’ a bustling hub for the informal economy where people have their stalls and sell all manner of goods, such as all kinds of clothing, as well as other items. Recently, this place has gained much more attention thanks to social media, which has encouraged certain organisations to take an interest in it. Having been abandoned for quite a few years, it has received some much-needed attention.

Las arquitecturas de la iglesia es algo que me apasiona me gusta mucho visitarlas y poder apreciar cada cada detalle que suelen tener normalmente las iglesias de Maracaibo, las que están en el casco histórico de la ciudad en todo su epicentro y centro son las que más estilo neoclásico poseen esta iglesia de San Felipe Neri, no puede ser la excepción que podemos ver cada uno de sus detalles que al transcurrir del tiempo. ¿Conservan cierto misticismo en su interior? Pues podemos ver ese techo en gran altura y esa arquitectura totalmente de la época que refleja a la gran Maracaibo Colonial, esta iglesia fue víctima de muchas situaciones que la conllevaron a estar así de abandonada, pero que sin duda alguna para aquellos amantes del arte, es una gran joya.

I am passionate about church architecture; I really enjoy visiting churches and appreciating every single detail that Maracaibo’s churches usually feature. Those located in the city’s historic centre, right at its very heart, are the ones that most embody the Neoclassical style. The Church of San Felipe Neri is no exception; we can see every one of its details, which have stood the test of time. Does its interior retain a certain mystique? Well, we can see that soaring ceiling and the architecture that is entirely in keeping with the period, reflecting the grandeur of colonial Maracaibo. This church has suffered many hardships that have left it in such a state of neglect, but for art lovers, it is undoubtedly a real gem.

Dicen que le darán otro uso al lugar ya que obviamente no puede ser iglesia, porque fue mudada a otra iglesia con su mismo nombre en una localidad de un municipio de del estado Zulia, como lo ves, el municipio de San Francisco en la urbanización San Felipe, pienso que particularmente para que este lugar se le pueda dar, otro uso y no se pierda esta gran infraestructura impresionante, deberían de poder mudar a todos los comerciantes que tienen sus puesto enfrente, ya que esto prácticamente, yo aquí es un desastre y le resta totalmente belleza al lugar, porque es una fuente imparable de basura que conlleva el deterioro de la ciudad y no tendría sentido que este lugar lo conviertan en un lugar fascinante si no se toma control y medidas de esto, por lo que si se llega a ser de esto un espacio impresionante y no se controla este gran factor será la obra un completo arado en el mar.

They say they’ll put the site to another use, as it obviously can’t be a church any more, because the congregation has moved to another church of the same name in a town in a municipality in Zulia State. As you can see, the municipality of San Francisco in the San Felipe housing estate. I think that, in order for this place to be put to another use and for this impressive infrastructure not to be lost, they should be able to relocate all the traders who have their stalls in front of it, as this is practically is a disaster and completely detracts from the beauty of the place, because it is an unstoppable source of rubbish that contributes to the city’s deterioration, and it would make no sense to turn this place into a fascinating spot if this issue isn’t brought under control and measures aren’t taken. Therefore, even if this were to become an impressive space, if this major factor isn’t controlled, the project will be a complete waste of time.
