The Most Unusual Cake in My Village [WEEK 151]

IMG_20230424_061348.jpg

Cake is a snack loved by many. This is a single photo of the traditionally designed cake used for my younger sister's traditional marriage two weeks ago. When the baker brought the cake to my house, everyone was wowed by how creative she is. Looking closely at the features of the cake, you will notice, especially if you are from Nigeria, how the baker creatively crafted some key objects usually involved in traditional marriage. She tried to depict a part of our culture with the cake.

Description

The first object in gold is a wine gourd. If you look closely, you will notice how she crafted a drop of palm wine gushing out from the wine guard. In my culture, a gallon of palm oil is one of the most sensitive items the groom's family presents to the bride's family during marriages.

Another feature you can see on the body of the cake is a red bid for beatification. I admired how her creativity did a lot of talking here. This was made using cake icing. I touched it and confirmed 👌. A traditional bid is one of the materials used by the bride to welcome the groom before the start of the marriage event. The bride will wear the bouquet on the neck of the groom as a sign of welcome, and both will dance to the venue of the event.

If you look down on the body of the cake, you will also notice a smaller, rounded brown object. This is a traditional cap, crafted by the baker as well. Right beside this cap is a traditionally crafted "kolanut" in pink, about four pieces of it. There can never be a traditional marriage in my culture without kolanuts. They are covenant items. It's a must-have culture for us, and I love how she creatively molded it.

The last feature of this traditionally designed cake are palm trees. . The palm trees for this event in my culture represent life. There are two trunks of a tree joined together, and there is the big trunk and the small trunk. The big trunk, which is the man's, is carrying the small trunk, which is the woman's. Then the smallest trunk that is leaning on the standing trunk is the product of the joined trunk.

Overall, I think this photo is beautifully crafted, with so much creativity demonstrated here. The fact that the features of this cake were molded using cake icing amazes me.

Many people that witnessed the event liked how beautifully this cake looked, and I am thinking you will find it wonderful as well.

This baker is creative and good at what she does 🔥. Details are everything and she nailed it. The cap looked like an extension of the log and it made the cake look even more beautiful.

While real kolanuts are bitter, this is one kolanut I'd gladly chew 😂, but I think I'd go for the palm tree first. Pieces like this are what make a ceremony fun. Happy married life to your sister 🤗❤

Oh my oh my! This cake baker is amazing! I have never seen anything like this. I like the way she carefully crafted out all the symbols and additions.

The palm trees and the logs of wood are my favorite aspect of the cake. No one would need a soothesayer to tell them that this cake represents tradition. Just beautiful ✨

The creativity by the baker here is amazing. The traditional marriage is one in town. I can say that, this is my first time of seeing a cake baked in this form. It explains everything about traditional marriage in Igbo land
