Italy is one of the Western Europe most affordable destinations with regards to accommodation.

We rented a country house (agriturismo) with authentic rustic interior with two bedrooms, living room with fireplace, kitchen and bathroom for about EUR 700 for 10 days. Let me note here that the friend I was traveling with spoke perfect Italian so there were negotiations, and the regular rent would be different ;)
