Slow and Steady - Embracing Your Unique Pace

Hello guys,
I hope you’re having a good day. This editions prompt is quite challenging I must say.😅 I have read some submissions and I was really touched by the words they came with. So basically we are required to take a picture today and share with the community. It could be a picture of anything around us but in addition we need to write about what that thing means to you or the message it gives you.

I actually found it very hard to think about what to write for this prompt because there’s a lot around me that had a message. So to make stuff easier for me and to not limit myself, I decided to step out and see if I can get a picture of something casual.

On my journey to nowhere in particular I came across this snail. Funny thing is , I didn’t see it early but as I passed by it something seemed to draw me to it. I went closer to take a look. You should have seen the expression on my face. You know how you feel when you ask God for something and he gives it to you. That feeling of relief. Yes that’s how I felt.

Since it was a snail, I had a lot of time to get some good shots unlike other animals. lol. I’m not perfect with my photography skills yet but I’m trying. It’s not much but this is the picture I want to share with you all today.

So, when we all see a snail what comes to mind? A slow pace right? Yes. Seeing this snail today reminded me of a lot.I bet we have all been through the phase where are feel we are not doing our best. Some of us even feel this way as we are reading this piece.

As we grow old and and try to build our lives as responsible adults, there comes the phase where we feel everything is going sideways. We also feel nothing is going as planned and we probably or we actually are not motivated to push on. Why do we feel this way? Sometimes it’s just because we are stressed out or overwhelmed by everything that’s going on in our lives. That’s fine.

But this happens to most people because of comparison. Some people have the habit of comparing their lives to that of others forgetting that we are all not created equal. It’s okay if your class mate from primary school is having a well paid job when you are still struggling in the university. That’s totally fine because your life hasn’t ended yet. There’s more for you out there. One thing we forget is that everyone has his time to shine.

Some people compare themselves to others so much they loose hold of their lives. They do not even know what’s going on in their lives because they compare themselves to others too much. In the long run, this leads to jealousy and that’s where we hear that this friend has poisoned her best friend due to this and that. People attribute this to many reasons but little do they know that all this happened due to comparison which in turn led to jealousy and now this.

This picture I am sharing with you today is to tell you that everything will be okay in your life. Don’t push yourself too hard, don’t compare yourself to others and also don’t envy others. Move at your own pace and do what you want to do. In all you do, do what makes you happy and what you won’t live to regret someday. There are a lot of your mate out there living in regret but you will never know because they wouldn’t tell you.
