My Forever Photo

If you know me very well, you’d probably know that I love taking photos of anything I can. It’s the only way I can keep some memories and so you’d mostly find me taking shots of the most random things.

I have so many photos on all of my devices, over 10,000 of them and funny enough, I find it hard to get rid of some of them. Even though I don’t have use for all of them, the stories behind them and the memories they bring back keep me holding on to them like my life depends on them. But sometimes I have to do the hard thing and delete them for the sake of my storage space.

Recently, I’ve been so occupied and overwhelmed that I barely have time to take pictures of stuff anymore. But that aside, I do have photos that hold a place in my heart. It’s hard to pick one of the lot because every picture I have is special to me in its own way. But if I’m to be bias , I’d have to go for the picture below.

To someone, this picture might just be a picture of four young people laughing happily but to me, it’s a picture of resilience. The first thing I think about when I see this picture is how total strangers can grow to become a family. I met these people a while back and we came together because our goals aligned. Slowly, we started to build our dreams and today, we are more like a family.

Away from this, behind the smile on our faces is weeks and weeks of sleepless night, months of stress, worry and frustration. But then, what you see is the joy. The joy of being able to hit a target after a full year of working and toiling non stop. Many people wouldn’t see the tough part of our journey, they only see the wins and obviously, some will think we had it easy, but really, we didn’t.

There were days we felt like given up, there still are those days. But when we look ahead, what we want can’t be achieved by giving up and so we keep pushing. This picture speaks of resilience, discipline and handwork and just looking at it makes me proud and also motivates me.
