A few weeks ago, I visited a tourist center called The Talanquera of Pleasure. The name itself might sound like a pun (in Venezuelan slang, chinazo). The term talanquera usually refers to a wall or fence, but in Venezuela, we say saltó la talanquera when someone switches sides or changes their opinion. If you’re Venezuelan, you’ll immediately get the pun hidden in the name.
When you combine the idea of “jumping the talanquera” with desire and passion, the result is pleasure. I assume that’s where the name comes from, although technically it’s not. The Talanquera of Pleasure is located in El Placer, a town in Cabudare, Venezuela. It took us about an hour to get there. Although Cabudare is a different city from Barquisimeto, it’s not far thanks to the large highways that connect the two.
We went there to celebrate my aunt’s promotion. We had planned it for three days. She doesn’t live in Barquisimeto, but her promotion ceremony took place here, and she wanted to share the occasion with us in a pleasant, relaxing place outside the city.
The Talanquera of Pleasure is a tourist and cultural center — a space designed to relax and disconnect from the hustle and bustle of urban life in a harmonious setting filled with rustic elements and recreational areas.

As soon as you arrive, you’re greeted by an entrance lined with palm trees and a sign for the tourist center, along with beautifully decorated lamps. The entrance leads directly to the restaurant, but that’s just the beginning.
From the entrance, you can see the garden and the entire complex. To one side, there’s a huge area with a children’s park and another section where you can see the horses for riding.

So, what can you do here? Since it’s a cultural and entertainment center, there’s a restaurant, swimming pools, a beautiful garden, a children’s park, and a small ice cream shop (which was closed at the time). Horseback riding is also available. It’s an all-in-one experience — absolutely perfect.
At the entrance, there’s also a photo spot with a decorative frame and a charming bench where visitors can sit, chat, take pictures, and relax. The atmosphere in this area is very inviting, with plenty of greenery.
Very few places value and maintain gardening as they should. I appreciated that these details were well cared for and made part of the center’s entrance. One of the things I valued most was the enormous tree behind the bench — it was absolutely beautiful.
The garden itself is simple but well-maintained, which shows it receives proper care. Although it had only a few trees, they varied in size and were thoughtfully arranged. The grass was neatly trimmed, adding to the sense of order.
Once inside the complex, you come across the restaurant area. All the tables are made of wood and neatly arranged. I found it interesting that from there you can get a full view of the tourist center.

We first sat down here to eat, and there was a TV nearby where we played music of our choice — we were the only ones there. The waiter was polite and attentive.
One important detail: there’s free Wi-Fi, which is very useful since cell phone coverage isn’t great due to the location’s distance from the city. Honestly, I found that a bit inconvenient, but the Wi-Fi solved the problem. I also liked that the wooden roof of the caney was beautifully crafted.
Smoking is prohibited at the center, which makes sense since it’s an open space where children also come to play and have fun with their parents.

At the back of the restaurant area, I spotted a barrel with an old radio on top of it — such a treasure! I loved it and had to take a picture because it was such a charming detail. Nearby, there was another photo spot, along with the bar, display cases, and the kitchen. The waiters looked at me strangely for taking so many photos of the place, but I’m used to it.
After that, we headed to one of the most beautiful areas of the complex — a caney next to the pools. I liked this area even more because it was designed for relaxation, complete with a hammock. It was the perfect peaceful corner.
The caney is located at the back of the complex, overlooking the pools. All the tables were neatly set up, but the area was empty — perhaps because we visited on a Wednesday. The view from there to the pools was stunning.

I couldn’t resist the urge to lie down in the hammock. It was incredibly relaxing, especially on a Wednesday when you’re usually weighed down with work responsibilities.
The pools caught my attention because they were circular, with water flowing in a way that looked like a fountain. I don’t usually swim in pools, but this one really tempted me. Behind the pool area, you could see the children’s park, separated by a fence that kept everything well-organized.

Although I didn’t go into the park myself, I let my little cousins enjoy it. I must say, it was one of the nicest and best-kept children’s parks I’ve seen, complete with the horseback riding area.
In conclusion, The Talanquera of Pleasure is a delightful tourist, cultural, and recreational center. It offers wonderful leisure areas, and what makes it truly special is the care and maintenance given to each section. It’s the perfect place to escape the city, enjoy a good meal, swim, and even go horseback riding.

Hace unas semanas fui al centro turístico llamado la Talanquera del Placer; suena a chinazo (chinazo es un modismo venezolano). El nombre de este lugar es muy peculiar: el término talanquera está asociado a una pared o valla, pero en Venezuela decimos saltó la talanquera para referirnos a que cambió de bando u opinión. La Talanquera del Placer se encuentra ubicada en El Placer, ciudad de Cabudare, Venezuela. Para llegar ahí tardamos una hora. Cabudare es una ciudad distinta a Barquisimeto, pero que no es lejana debido a las grandes carreteras que la conectan.
Fuimos a este lugar para celebrar en familia el ascenso de grado de mi tía. Lo planeamos durante tres días. Ella no vive en Barquisimeto, pero su ascenso era aquí y quería compartirlo con nosotros en un sitio agradable y apartado de la ciudad.
La Talanquera del Placer es un centro turístico o cultural. En efecto, un espacio diseñado para ir a relajarte y desconectar de la cotidianidad urbana en un entorno armónico y lleno de elementos rupestres y diseñados para el entretenimiento.
Al llegar, te recibe una entrada rodeada de palmeras y con el aviso del centro turístico, además de las lámparas decoradas de una manera atractiva. La entrada te lleva al restaurante directamente, pero ese es solo el comienzo de todo.
Desde la entrada se puede ver el jardín y todas las dimensiones. Por una de las laterales, ves un espacio gigantesco donde se encuentra el parque para niños y se visualiza el área donde cabalgan los caballos.
¿Qué se puede hacer aquí? Al ser un centro cultural y de entretenimiento, hay un restaurante, hay piscinas, hay un hermoso jardín, hay un parque para niños, una heladería que estaba cerrada y se puede montar a caballo. Un todo en uno, muy perfecto.
En la misma entrada hay una especie de recuadro donde se pueden tomar fotografías y un banco muy estético donde uno se puede sentarse para conversar, tomarse fotografías y relajarse. El entorno en esta parte es muy atractivo. Todo es de color verde.
Hay muy pocos lugares que valoran la jardinería y la cuidan. Me gustó que esos detalles estuvieran conservados y formaran parte de la entrada del centro turístico. Para mí, una de las cosas que más valoré fue el inmenso árbol que pude observar detrás del banco. Era precioso.
El jardín es sencillo, pero está conservado y cuidado. Lo que implica que recibe el tratamiento adecuado. Es algo que valoro, porque el jardín tenía pocos árboles, pero de diferentes tamaños. Cada uno tenía una buena posición; además, el césped estaba bien podado.
Al ingresar al interior de la Talanquera del Placer, te encuentras con el área del restaurante. Todas las mesas ahí son de madera y están muy bien organizadas. Lo que me pareció interesante es que desde ahí se puede obtener una vista de todo el complejo turístico.
Debo destacar que nos sentamos inicialmente aquí para comer y cerca estaba un televisor en el cual pusimos música a nuestro gusto: éramos los únicos ahí. El mesero fue muy amable y educado.
Aspecto importante: hay wifi gratuito y se puede utilizar tranquilamente. La cobertura telefónica en este lugar es un poco mala debido a su lejanía de la ciudad, por eso lo mejor es usar el wifi. Es algo que considero desfavorable. Me gustó que el techo del caney fuera de madera: todos estaban elaborados detalladamente.
En este centro turístico está prohibido fumar; así que el cigarrillo queda para la casa para los que fuman. Es comprensible, debido a que es un espacio abierto y al que también van niños a divertirse con sus padres.
Al fondo del espacio del restaurante había un barril con un radio viejo. ¡Qué pasada! Me encantó y decidí fotografiarlo porque era un elemento precioso. Junto a él estaba otro espacio diseñado para tomar fotografías. Cerca también estaba la barra, las vitrinas y la cocina. Los meseros me vieron raro porque estaba tomando fotografías del espacio; ya estoy acostumbrado.
Luego de ahí pasamos a una de las áreas más lindas del complejo. Un caney cerca de las piscinas. Esta parte me gustó más porque estaba diseñada para desconectar; incluso había una hamaca. Es un área perfecta y tranquila.
El caney está al fondo del complejo y se pueden mirar las piscinas. Todas las mesas estaban organizadas, pero estaba vacío. Quizás esto fue porque fuimos un día miércoles. La vista desde ahí hacia las piscinas es preciosa.
No puedo negar que me dieron ganas de acostarme en la hamaca. Es algo que te relaja y más si estás en un lugar como este. Sobre todo, un día miércoles que usualmente estás cargado de responsabilidades laborales.
Las piscinas me parecieron interesantes porque eran circulares y desde donde salía el agua parecía una regadera. No suelo bañarme en piscinas, pero es algo que me provocó por cómo se veía. Al fondo de las piscinas está el parque, pero hay una cerca que divide cada área. Todo planificado y organizado.
Una de las áreas a las que no ingresé fue el parque. Dejé que mis pequeños primos se divirtieran allí, pero sí destaco que es uno de los parques para niños más lindos y bien cuidados que he visto. Además de que es el área donde se puede montar a caballo.
La Talanquera del Placer es un centro turístico, cultural o de entretenimiento agradable. Está integrado por áreas de esparcimiento increíbles y lo que lo hace único es el cuidado y mantenimiento de cada una de sus áreas. Es un lugar perfecto para visitar y desconectar de la dinámica de la ciudad, comer rico, bañarte y montar a caballo.
