Pirate's Corner: Blue Magic on the Coast of Venezuela [En-Es]

Venezuelan coasts are truly impressive—mainly because of the deep blue color of the sea and the people who live in the surrounding areas. Pirate's Corner Beach is a lush example of that natural beauty.
One of the most distinctive features of this beach is the slant of the sand. In some areas, the slope reaches up to 70 degrees, making it very difficult to walk or even take in the surroundings. Despite being a challenge to explore, you can still enjoy the entire experience if you’re determined.
To reach this beach, I traveled for more than two hours from Maracay, Aragua, Venezuela. If you're coming from Barquisimeto, my hometown, the trip takes a little over five hours without stops—so it's important to bring everything you need for the beach: food, drinks, and snacks.
It's highly recommended to make all your purchases before arriving, as there are no shops nearby. You’ll only find seafood restaurants and places that sell beer. In our case, we bought canned beer in Maracay because we didn’t have the crate required for returnable bottles (in Venezuela, beer is commonly sold in crates of 36 returnable bottles).

Originally, I didn’t plan to visit this beach—it was a recommendation from my aunt’s husband. There's always a first time. I really appreciated the friendliness of the locals and the beach vendors.

There were many people swimming, especially children, who were the first to dive into the water and enjoy it. My cousins were definitely part of that group. I changed into my swimwear but decided to walk along the beach first—I always like to explore the area. My uncle always says I’m too curious and warns me to be cautious and a bit distrustful because unexpected or unpleasant things can happen.

The beach coastline was extensive and bordered by mountains. I would have loved to climb one and see the ocean from above, but that wasn't possible this time. The waves weren’t very strong, but as the hours passed, the tide rose. Was the water cold? Yes—but not unbearably so. That day was cloudy, and it had rained on the way there, making it a fresh, pleasant day for swimming.

I enjoy walking barefoot on the beach—it fills me with energy. However, I also brought my sandals. Because of the steep slope of the sand, the surface felt moist and every step left a deep footprint, which created a beautiful visual trail.

In Venezuela, beach pergolas are traditionally made from sticks and bamboo, with palm leaves used for the roofs. It's very rustic and traditional, which adds a feeling of connection with nature. However, many of the pergolas on this beach were empty or in poor condition.

In the middle of the beach, there’s a stream of water that flows into the sea. It appears to come from the mountain rivers and mixes with wastewater from the nearby village. It’s not entirely clean, but not fully polluted either—a somewhat unfortunate aspect.

In that same central area, the sand wasn’t as steep and was more level, making it easier and more enjoyable to walk around. This part of the beach was one of the most pleasant.

Nearby, I found a large rock and took a picture there. Context: I was quite overweight at the time. It’s amazing how much weight I’ve lost and how different I look now.

As the afternoon went on, people kept enjoying the beach, but the most beautiful part was how the sun and water interacted. It was a perfect and soothing combination. The view brought a sense of peace you rarely find in the city.

Some downsides: several structures along the beach are in terrible condition, corroded by salt, and many houses remain unfinished. Still, the positive energy was palpable.

One of the most fascinating parts of the beach is the view from a pier that’s in very poor condition. The concrete pillars are corroded, and the roof is completely gone.

Despite that, the view from the pier is stunning—especially since parts of it are covered with bamboo. If you look toward the sea from there, the water appears even more beautiful. The smell of plankton is a bit strong, though.

From the pier, there’s a perfect harmony between the bamboo and the movement of the water. To me, it was spectacular. Those little details are incredible—especially when captured in a photo.

I took many pictures there because I felt a special connection. The water framed by bamboo and wood created a scene that looked like a gate to freedom. It was as if the structure was inviting you to cross over into something liberating.

For me, the best photos were taken on that pier. The view was just breathtaking. People looked at me a little strangely while I was taking pictures, but I’m used to that—it’s not a big deal anymore.

Visiting this beach was a pleasant adventure. The movement of the waves is gentle, and the whole experience is a tangible reminder of something joyful: travel. To me, it's a peaceful place to unwind and briefly disconnect from work. Simple, humble, and a perfect spot to recharge from daily life.

Thank you guys very much. Today we are back with another story, with beach perspectives and nuances.
Smell of sea, sand and waves. Pier, pier. :P
we love the beach! 😍😘😎🤙
It's as cool as it gets. :)
"Pirate's Corner" is such a cool name for a beach
It's a very rare name, I like that. :P
Its really fun! Beach is a good way to short trip 😆
Indeed, more because you disconnect from everything. :)
Wow you must have enjoyed a lot in the beach, this place is very nice
I enjoyed it very much. It is very pleasant. Especially the descent of the mountains and the view of the sea, it is a treasure.
A very beautiful beach, no wonder it looks so pleasant, what you said is absolutely right because I have never seen a view so perfect and the beauty is so pleasing to the eye, my friend.❤️🙏
There are some houses deteriorated by the saltpeter, it is a very nice beach. It is a treasure, for many national tourists it is not the best, but if we analyze it in an international context it is a raw treasure.
The place is really amazing my friend ❤️🙏
He rebajado mucho.
Que bueno verte aquí, Belug. :)
venezuela is very beautiful and it was a solid economy about 30 years ago, today the situation has changed for the bad
It's like this! But nothing is eternal and perpetuated. People, Venezuelans are looking to get out of there and show what we have and what we can contribute to the world.
The beach has a breathtaking views and it was one of a kind. A perfect place to disconnect from work, and noise polluted city. A beautiful place to make self recharging.
I agree, it is a perfect place to disconnect from the routine and noise of the city. You bathe, have your drinks, share and watch the sunset. A unique affair.
What a wonderful walk on the beach, in summer and vacation times, we interact with these natural beauties, which are breathtaking. I loved the pictures.
The view is spectacular. A precise and pleasant gift you get when you go to this place. The sea is always fantastic. :)
It is indeed a very nice looking beach from what you have shared with us! I especially like the bamboo-structures. They give the beach a nice little touch - something that in my view makes the beach even more special.
It gives it an interesting touch, too bad the spring is in very bad shape.

I know this is supposedly about the beach, but nice shots! 📸
The beaches are always beautiful.
I want to go to the island of margarita, also to los roques. They are the best in the country.
This is quite an insight you have given me especially about the beach pergolas in venezuela. I have studied a bit of structural engineering so things like these fascinate me a lot.
Most of these structures are made with wooden sticks and dried palm leaves.
jajajaja
Wowwww. That is quite the journey. Thankfully you didn't have to go from your hometown. It would have been a two day trip.
But I can say it would have been very worth it. I mean spending two hours to and fro is also a long time. But these beautiful pictures make up for the stress, big time.
I enjoyed this!
Yes, I was already in Maracay, Aragua and from there the trip was shorter. Not necessarily, the usual, is to leave at 5:00 am or 6:00 am and arrive at noon. We have already done it, but to other beaches farther away.
Going back and forth is exhausting, the best thing to do is to look for a posada and enjoy your stay. :)
Beautiful photos and storytelling. The beach looks peaceful despite its rough edges. Thanks for sharing this hidden gem.
Thank you, what a great compliment. I'm glad you liked it. It makes me happy that I can share this and that everyone enjoys it :)
Awesome pictures and story!
Thank you.
