Paradise in Morrocoy: Cay Playuela and Playuelita [En-Es]

1 (1).png

Exploring Playuela Cay and Playuelita Cay is one of the most memorable experiences you can have in Morrocoy National Park. The cays in this park are breathtaking because the wind moves perfectly. Everything feels relaxing.

This post is a continuation of the previous one:Cay Playuela and Playuelita: Blue Paradise in the Venezuelan Caribbean.. After walking halfway across Playuela Cay, I found some canopies under the trees. I thought it was strange because they were positioned beneath the trees; usually, they are set closer to the sea.

I decided to head to one of the farthest parts of the cay, meaning one of the corners opposite Playuelita Cay. In that area, there was a fallen trunk and a dry tree. The scene was stunning.

6.jpg5.jpg

It’s unusual to find a fallen tree trunk like this on a cay or beach. It struck me as peculiar but also very attractive. Nature speaks silently and shapes its beauty in its own way.

Something I truly appreciated was the beauty of the cay and the light blue color of the water. It’s such a beautiful place. I consider it a unique treasure in Venezuela. A peculiar detail was how the water seemed to glow.

1.jpg

As I moved away from the center of the cay and the pier, I came across an area full of palm trees. There were no tourists in this part—only workers from one of the local businesses.

The sunlight filtered through the palm trees in an enchanting way. It’s the kind of detail that catches your eye and leaves an impression. Few places showcase such a perfect union of natural elements. Here, nature displays itself however it wants.

4.jpg3.jpg9.jpg

I simply decided to walk around and let myself be carried away by the scenery. The palm trees stand apart and lean at distinctive angles, the same phenomenon seen in regular trees shaped by the strong pressure of the wind.

7.jpg

I loved this spot for photography because everything was beautifully integrated. Beauty is perceived differently by each person, and in my case, I try to capture it through photography—what my eyes see.

1.jpg

From here, you could clearly see the vast stretch of both Playuela Cay and Playuelita Cay. The expanse was immense, and the most striking thing was how everything was a shade of blue. The blue was so beautiful it wrapped around you.

1.jpg

I took an “explorer mode” photo wearing my straw hat. These hats are common in Venezuela; they’re part of our culture. The picture shows how amazed I was. This place is a unique Caribbean treasure.

5.jpg

I decided to take another photo here. I didn’t want to get in the water; I felt a sense of freedom I hadn’t experienced in a long time. The clouds moved across the sky like a work of art, the sand was soft in color, and the water displayed three distinct shades of blue.

2.jpg

Along the shore of the cay, there was a beautiful coral formation. It wasn’t invasive or full of fish, and you could walk over it with ease. There were no green algae, only brown ones.

The way the corals stood out and the waves pulled away was captivating. The coral was shallow, making it easy to observe. The beauty in this part of the cay drew me in. I took many photos of this area.

I decided to go into the sea and take a photo in the water. I thought it was the perfect spot—the corals were there, and the sunlight was just right for a picture. I was a bit nervous about slipping, but I still went in, entering through the area where there were no corals.

3.jpg

As the afternoon set in, the small boat ride felt incredibly relaxing. Everything was beautiful, and watching the sunset was magical. The temperature dropped, and the air felt cool. I decided to simply admire the beauty of the coral.

6.jpg

I stayed for a while in this part of the cay, gazing at the corals and taking in their beauty. The color of the sand and the scattered coral fragments created a scene that few places can match. I kept my sandals on because of the solid coral pieces and stones.

As the sun went down, everything became even more pleasant. Visiting Playuela Cay and Playuelita Cay is an experience that fills and amazes you. The best part is that the water is incredible, and you can truly relax with everything around you.

5.jpg

After exploring and swimming, I decided to head back around 6:00 p.m., Venezuela time. One tip for enjoying this place to the fullest is to arrive early—we got there after 2:00 p.m. Here, you can eat delicious fish, drink beer, and enjoy a good dessert while swimming and taking in the best the sea has to offer.

The vast expense of Playuela Cay and Playuelita Cay are indeed magnificent. Looking to the blue waters it has made me feel calm. That cay is good for a mini adventure and relaxing way of escapade. I saw and felt it when you pointed how the leaves filtered the sun. I mean... there is peace in that small thing. We just have to take a closer look and feel it. This is a great post and I hope I get to read more of this❤️🥳

I was surprised by the size. It is something that few cays have. In fact the island has another cay but from these two it is very difficult to get to it. There is no road. The view of the sea is beautiful.

@neruel It sounds like such an incredible experience to explore Playuela Cay and Playuelita Cay! I would really like to go someday after reading your description of the ideal breeze and tranquil setting. It's intriguing that you discovered the canopies beneath the trees rather than by the water; that must have provided a special and serene shade for taking in the surroundings. We appreciate you sharing your journey and the lovely information about these undiscovered treasures in Morrocoy National Park.

What a wonderful virtual trip to Morrocoy! You've beautifully captured the essence of Cay Playuela and Playuelita. Your descriptions of the crystalline waters and the unique sandbar connecting the two cays were so vivid that I could almost feel the warmth of the sun and the gentle sea breeze.

I was particularly intrigued by your mention of the "vuelve a la vida" dish. It's fascinating how local cuisine often holds the true character of a place. Thank you for sharing this piece of paradise with us; it’s a powerful reminder of the incredible beauty Venezuela has to offer. Looking forward to reading more of your adventures!
