A Day at the Barber Shop | Entry for the Reflection Hunters Contest ~ Round 263
It's just another day, Reflection Hunters!
You can't go on big adventures every day; sometimes you need some time to yourself. A hunter has to put the camera away to take a healthy breath of fresh air.
I recently had to go to the local barbershop, because every hunter sooner or later has to get a haircut to look their best. That day I let my guard down; my mind was on other things, and I wasn’t even aware that the Reflection Hunters contest had reached round number 263.
I hadn’t prepared anything surprising, but while I was at the barbershop, I suddenly saw it up close—a reflection I’d never seen before. In that moment, something clicked inside me, as if seeing that reflection had flipped a switch. That must have been my hunter’s instinct, because even though I was at a barbershop waiting my turn to be served, I had to hunt for reflections.
Capturing reflections is the only way to unravel the secrets of that other, alternative world.

After a well-deserved haircut, you have to look in the mirror to appreciate the work done on your head. I was able to capture this humble local barbershop. Any man is free to set up a barbershop on his front porch; if you dream of cutting hair professionally, don’t hesitate to get started right away.

Sometimes you really need to look back to find what you’ve been searching for. The rearview mirror doesn’t lie; it reminds you that it’s never too late to stop and take a different path. The exit is the entrance to a new world—perhaps the world of reflections.

The patio of your house is a place for recreation and fun; as it grows, it becomes nothing more than a large open space where vegetation takes root. Looking out the window, you can see this—and also realize that it’s a reflection of a past that’s very, very distant indeed.
