Back on Nights
Earlier this week @fastchrisuk and myself headed off to one of our usual haunts in the hope of doing some lightpainting.
While there we had a stroke of luck and found a new building to go into that was only 25 yards from the car too! I'd suggested nipping into a building that we would usually walk past to shoot some Coloquix graffiti and found that the roof was intact (So minimum chance of getting wet if it rained) and for an abandoned location it was relatively clean!
There were also metal supports that made a perfect frame to stand inside while shooting. So we setup and took the following shots, backlit and with a laser and side lighting too, kindly provided by Chris. Oh another onus, minimum draft too so I think I only used 2 smoke pellets that evening as it just lingered!!
I do love the colours in the above shot and the one below was when I wanted to get a different effect from Chris' shots. The added torch makes me think of the poster to John Carpenters movie The Thing..
Below is a rotation shot that we took. Initially I had the idea for this, which when working with Chris, who has most of the best ideas, I was quite proud of. I thought that the support beams would make a nice frame when rotated. Chris moved the light so the pillar was directly lit from below and we were away. I think I prefer the colour combination on Chris' shot but I'm certainly happy with what I got..
The only way we could alter this I think, is angle the camera (so its not central) for rotation after the initial silhouette shot, to make a wider circle, but I think what we created works pretty well.
Next visit I'm hoping to spin some sparks and maybe create some reflections too.
As a photographer I try to mix what I do in my shots, I've done still life, some macro work, lightpainting and I enjoy a good model shoot. If you'd like to check out any of my other work I'm on Facebook, or you can find me on Instagram under neilru75
Thanks very much for looking
Kind Regards, Neil
