"Dussehra is a famous festival of Uttarakhand"

Hello friends, I hope you all are well and your life is going well. After a long time I went to my home and celebrated Dussehra festival. I left with my friends at 2 pm and came back home at 9 pm. I have taken some pictures to show you all the different types of effigies made today, which include pictures of both day and night, but friends, I could not stay for long, so I could not take pictures of burning the effigies. Let me tell you all why and for what purpose this famous festival is celebrated in Uttarakhand.

Dussehra falls on the tenth day of Sharadiya Navratri. Lord Rama killed Ravana on this day. Therefore, this day is also said to symbolize the victory of good over evil. To conquer Ravana, Lord Rama worshipped Goddess Durga for nine days and killed Ravana on the tenth day. It was only after this that the festival of Dussehra started being celebrated on the tenth day of Navratri. Millions of Indians celebrate Dussehra – one of the most important festivals of Hinduism – which symbolizes the victory of good over evil. Dussehra commemorates the victory of Lord Rama over the ten-headed demon king Ravana.

The history of Dussehra is significant in the Ramayana, as it marks Lord Rama's victory over the demon king Ravana, when he rescued his wife Sita and brought her back to Ayodhya. This battle is fought over ten days, and the tenth day, also known as Vijayadashami, marks the defeat of Ravana by Lord Rama. The burning of Ravana's effigy on Dussehra is because it was on this day that Lord Rama slew Ravana, the king of Lanka, marking the victory of good over evil. Burning Ravana's effigy (Ravana Dahan) symbolizes the victory of righteousness, truth, and justice over arrogance, injustice, oppression, and unrighteousness. It reminds us that no matter how powerful evil may be, it is ultimately defeated. Therefore, it is said that one should always follow the path of goodness.
