Pontederiaceae, or the Water Hyacinth family, is a family of flowering plants. According to the 2016 APG IV classification system (unchanged from the 2009 APG III, 2003 APG II, and 1998 APG systems), this family belongs to the order Commelinales, clade Commelinids. One of its most popular members is the water hyacinth, which is ana invasive plant species in many waterways. This plant family consists of only two genera: Heteranthera and Pontederia.
