The horrors of mismanaged loneliness

(Edited)

So, do you want to see what I saw? I'm talking about yesterday at the Zoo, located on 26th Street, in the Nuevo Vedado neighbourhood of Havana.

Tell me yes. 😜

Okay. Come with me.

I thought the best processing for these photos would be Black and White and I'll tell you why.

$1

It was raining, not pouring, but that rain that brushes you and wets you without you realising it.

On weekdays people don't visit the zoo very often. Children are at school, I guess. And if it was two hours before closing time and the sky was darkening... the few who were there, I guess again, decided to leave.

And there I was, delighted to be alone. Or not so lonely because there was a family that I met almost as I was leaving and they gave me a lollipop as a present. Well, as I said, I was delighted until I found this.

$1

I know he's just a clown but he reminded me of Chucky. You know what I mean? The creepy doll.

$1

I could feel the silence getting heavy and suddenly I turned my head and saw what this state of loneliness represented. Oh, I was a bit confused, let's see.

$1

Everything I saw brought back bustling memories of my childhood, at the amusement park in Artemisa, where I used to eat candyfloss and ride the spinning horses and the star (the Ferris wheel). That's why I thought black and white would look better in this story. However, there in the solitude of the zoo and half wet, my mind was continuously shutting down and I was only activating by the automatic pilot inside me that photographers have.

$1

Oh, yes, the little horses. 🙂

$1

Not even they could lighten the burden of silence on my shoulders. I decided to move to the main street.

$1

Wait, one more photo.

$1

Hey, are you a masochist or what?

$1

You know I like to reflect. And if you read the title of this post I am talking about several things at the same time. Loneliness doesn't have to be bad if you know what to do with it, you are not alone, you have yourself and your world, where there will always be motivations if you don't let Chucky take over your thoughts.

$1

But... 😧 why do you look at me like that? 🤣 OK, it's a rupeli vulture, from sub-Saharan Africa. And it was in that place behind the columns, looking at me while I was photographing Chucky.

... the main street.

$1

There were supposed to be flamingos here. What is that?

$1

Monkeys were in high spirits climbing the guava tree. On a small island, in the middle of the pond where one day I met the flamingos.

$1

I have always wondered if what separates them from me is a bit of water, why don't they just cross it? Just in case let me move, I said to myself. My experiences with primates are not pleasant.

$1

Loneliness can be like this scene if you fail to converge with the beat of your heart. These are cold and calculating creatures.

Here ends my participation in this #Monomad Challenge and I must say I love this shot.

$1

I didn't retouch it at all, I just turned it to black and white as you can see here.

I like black and white a lot. Some images look better in colour, depending on the message you want to convey.

Estaban mojados y espero que el animal del estanque no estuviera sufriendo. Yo creo que estaba masticando algo.

Nice shot is beautiful, I am also an admirer of black and white, there is something interesting behind black and white photography, of course there is something very touching, if someone likes this black and white color.

I don't like zoos, I've already told you, and to make matters worse, when I decide to go I find something that made me go out the same way I came in... did you notice? I'll go and cover my eyes so as not to see Chucky. LOL.

I have a very deep opinion about loneliness, which these photos have encouraged me to delve deeper. Loneliness is a good companion as long as it is a flamingo-loneliness.

Have a great Sunday ☺️

(absent and solitary flamingos are always good company) 😀

It was a wet and dark Sunday hahaha... but a great Sunday all in all.

Thank you ;)

The only thing to be careful of is that Chucky doesn't mate.... in the mind, that's very bad. Otherwise the pictures are great... loved the little horses on the carousels... and the aven's looks are piercing. The cloudy days are all about the memories and the black and white too. Beautiful composition!💗

The zoo becomes lonelier in black & white photos.
Quite creepy in some shots 😅

Your pictures remind me of the first time I visited that zoo, I was only 8 years old. I remember it seemed huge and I was terrified of getting lost there. Excellent shots. Regards ☺️

I was a bit afraid of getting lost too, because it was so lonely out there. But have you noticed that I hardly saw anything at the Zoo? I saw Chucky and I went back the same way I came in.

Thanks!

There are photos that only in black and white will look good, yours all always look good.....
I used to look forward to going to zoos, today I know they are prisons, and they make me horribly sad.
Maybe if I had seen the flamingos, instead there was a water buffalo?
The tails of the monkeys were coincidentally taken making donuts, I guess it is their normal position, it reminded me of my Choe's tail, when he is happy he always has a donut at the end of his tail, would the monkeys be happy? I hope so, maybe they are happy in the only way they have ever known her.

Hi nanixxx, life outside the Zoo is pretty screwed up too.

I tell you a secret: your posts have the immense power to revive me.

Each day, I discover deeper truths about life and my existence. I think it's about moving away from the toxicity that people and situations bring, creating our own world with the right people and situations. Because there are many things that are beyond our control and we will not be able to change, but others are within our control and we can stay there, where we are sovereign.

About what you say at the end, I feel a sense of joy to be able to contribute to something so important. I've never been told something like that before, I think I'm feeling happy now to be useful to someone.

It's been a long time since my last visit to the zoo and it was more alive those days. What a shame that scene, but probably because of the school year it is so lonely. On weekends it should be better (I think...) Nice photos and great job!
