Shots in the Waiting Game

No, it wasn’t the first time I stopped. But this time I pulled out my camera and snapped a couple of shots.

I had just come from delivering some medicine. And it always feels ‘creepy’ to me to see a bike left alone, tied to whatever… because abracadabra has its ninjas. 😆

Two locks… a busy corner, right in front of the Bank for Foreign Trade… no precaution is ever too much.

This was the second picture I took. It was right behind me. And it was covered on the left flank by a parked car. That’s worse — hardly any visibility… but really, who would try the abracadabra on this rusty relic from the ’90s, when Havana was awash with Chinese ‘Forever’ bikes.

Any ninja of… you-know-what.

I’ve seen youngsters who look after them well. I remember painting or nickel-plating them was all the rage in those days.

And no, the cover shot wasn’t the first. 😁 By the way, I’d like it to be my entry in the #Monomad Challenge.

Nahhhhh, this one neither!

It took a few minutes before I could make that shot — probably the best of the day — and I had to get myself ready before that person, who’d chosen stripes for today, came along.

This is another photo I enjoyed taking. I was sitting in the park at 23 and J after having a hot dog — I was starving. I glanced through my camera’s viewfinder in different directions and, as I passed this small craft stall, he happened to be showing his wares to a customer. The light there was perfect.

More photos while I waited, hoping by chance to be assigned another delivery… no luck, so I decided to head home and make the most of the two or three hours of electricity we get each day. It’s just been cut off again, and now there won’t be any until tomorrow mid-morning — or who knows…
